No Mods Folder

I can't work this out and its driving me crazy.
There is no Mods folder. I am using GC2 Dread Lords Limited edition and nothing works.

I can place items directly into the data folders . Nothing works. there is a button saying enable mods but it doesn't do a single thing. The tutorial on here (http://www.i-mod-productions.com/showthread.php?t=662) says i should have a drop box under there asking where i want to take my mods from. but i don't.

Ive tried editing the XML code of files like planetary improvements but none of them work, the code has no errors as i copied a farm and just tied to change the picture for a test.

What is going on here? i feel im missing something ridiculously stupid

Thanks

What version is the game? Proper mod-support was added in v1.2, and the latest version of the game is v1.53. The version-number is shown in the lower left side of the title-screen.

Ah this may be the problem. I modded the game before on my desktop but since that went up in smoke my new latptop has not been very useful for this. i think its version one. Where can i get the newer ones? I cant find the serial number inside the metal case but have this game about 4 times for some reason

Thanks for your quick reply i was going outta my mind

I don't think, that it's still possible to download the patches. Patching was done via the program Stardock Central originally, which was later replaced by Impulse (and is now owned by Gamestop).

If you have registered your serial number, you can download a fully updated installer from the My Downloads page at the Stardock Store (unless they have changed that for new registrations).
I have the Limited Edition too, and the serial number is at the back of the manual. However, there is a possibility, that it won't work, because Stardock changed their serial numbers a while back. In that case, it's probably best to write a mail to [email protected]

As a last option, you could buy the Ultimate Edition. It's fully updated and includes both expansions. The only possible downside (besides having to buy the game again) is, that you'll need Steam to install the game.
