Master Quest mod ??


Good Morning

I've come to a conclusion. It's been...well since beta 0.8...so it's been awhile....and the master quest is still far too easy and too localized. My conclusion is that this game requires a new master quest.

I however know I do not have the modding experience to deal with this...sigh.

 

Is it possible to change the master quest from Pit of Lost Voices to Dragon's Eye Quest ??? 

Is it possible to REMOVE the Pit of Lost Voices wildland from the map generation altogether??? (currently, even with master quest disabled, the stupid wildland still shows up. It's a waste of space.)

Well I of course made an alternative to the Master Quest here:

And I'm working on a second Alternative Master Quest, coming in a few months.

But I know exactly what you mean, the Master Quest just becomes too familiar. I'd be open to seeing any ideas you or other modders have for changing it up (returning it to a 1v1 battle perhaps?) or turning it off to allow for a true replacement master quest.

Well, from what I've seen of the Lost Forge, it is too hard.  Something like 4 or 5 Titans casting Despair as well as some Dragons to Fear you so you can't take out the other Titans early.  It's just a bit too hard for my tastes.

Some notes:

- Pit of Lost Voices is not guaranteed to show up if Master Quest is disable (Although it seems to show up pretty often, I agree)

- If you do clear up the Pit of Lost Voices, you usually get one of the best if not the best weapon as well as a place to settle a new city

That being said, have you tried editing Wildlands.xml (removing references to the Master_Quest)? That might just do it and would be an easy fix if it worked


 

You actually do get the weapon? I have never seen it drop, so is there a bug in the current 1.5 build? Or maybe webusvers Patchwork mod did something to loots? I recall some dragonkill loots have also disappeared or changed in the games I recently played.

Was kinda hoping you'd get the weapon, or randomly one of the armor pieces Waerloga is wearing.

Bummer. Thanks for the feedback, though (there are no more fear-triggers in the mod FYI, you stand a chance to interrupt spells).

Oh and er, Titans? There are no Titans in that mod...ahem.

You can't satisfy everyone ;)

Either it's too easy or too hard, the perfect spot is hard to find.

@GFireflyE: Are you sure you have master quest turned off... I turned my master quest off and I do not get the Wildland in map generation. I think you should double check that you have it turned off, or are not playing a custom map that has the master quest on it already.

I run the game and don't see it spawn, and I have ran the game and seen it spawn, although it probably only spawned as a regular wildland that you can conquer (not win on)

It will not spawn on all occasions and will not let you win the game when it does spawn. It is at that point an adventure for the map.

I am certain it is turned off. When in the game, I look at my victory conditions and have the master quest condition blanked out with a small 'disabled' message (I'm not in front of my game, as my harddrive is still down so I don't know the exact message, but I do clearly recall reading it).

I am also certain that I am still receiving the master quest wildland in my games when I have the master quest disabled.

In one of you upcoming patches, is it possible to include the Dragon's Eye quest set as an optional master quest in the game?

Don't get me wrong, the original master quest is a good quest...it's just too easy and too localized, and once completed several times, too boring. The same cannot be said for the Dragon's Eye Quest.

  • Adventuring for several small, randomly generated locations a great deal more challenging and fun than searching for a large, easy to find, color-coded location on the map. 
  • The quest markers can be generated in many different places (withing AI territory, on the far side of a wildland, unto the ends of the earth) whereas the wildland requires a large amount of space, (limiting the locations as to where it can be hidden). 
  • Perhaps eliminate the option of simply fighting the statues instead of performing their tasks to add further difficultly to the quest.
  • IF this is possible, could you also include the removal of the original master quest wildland from appearing on the map when this option is active?

  • Icing on the cake: Making a quest series the Master Quest opens up the modding community to the creation of their own Master Quests in an entirely differently and unrestricted light compared to the existing wildland.

I picture each of the victory condition as obtainable through the pursuit of the different aspect of the game. Military Victory can be obtained through the expansion of your armies and conquering of the AI. Diplomatic Victory requires to focus on the undertoning politics that the game offers. Forge of the Overlord can be obtained through the technological development of you kingdom. Likewise, the Master Quest should be obtained through the adventuring of your heroes....and while the existing master quest does require adventuring....it just doesn't give the right feel when it's so easy to find.
