I want to buy the Founder's package, but I want to wait until close to the Alpha release as funds are a bit...sparse after Christmas. Can you please give us a rough estimate as to when you expect to start the Founder's Alpha so I know when I need to secure funds by?

There is no even remotely firm date at this point. Late January was thrown around as a guesstimate IIRC, but it can change by a wide margin on no notice. I kind of expect it in March, just so it can conflict for my time with the Diablo 3 expansion and Age of Wonders 3. 
They have said that they'll provide advance notice if the founders packages are going to no longer be for sale, so there will be advance warning of that.
As stated in the December Update: "While this isn’t a promise, we anticipate the Alpha version being made available in late February."

Last I heard it was March. Now I'm going to have to upgrade to the end of January.

Not to worry, Tridus! Being a real fan means being there with object of your adoration regardless of that object well-being - be that rain or sunshine.
Knowing numbers is just being statistic. Or geek. That's not derogatory.

(Plus, late February conflicts with a trip I'm taking to the US, but maybe I can hop on a machine while there and give it a spin!)
Are these 30 day months, 31 day months, or 28 day months/ makes a difference in adding up the days until..... release.
No they are at least one million day months, so it won't be that long.
Seriously as much as I'm tired of not having the game. I would like the game to be the best it can be, so I'm willing to wait. If they can't do this in a million days. I don't think they will ever get it.
