If I could have one wish...

I have more of a general plea than a real question.

Please don't rush the game development, it's tempting I know because I literally get all giddy with anticipation when I think of Gal Civ III. I love the franchise with a passion that is borderline creepy but as much as I may want to get my hands on it now. Above all I would implore you to take the time to pour all the passion you have with the previous installments into this one.

I'm happy to know it's in Stardock's capable hands and I eagerly await the beta, which will no doubt ruin my social life. It's been 7 years since GalCiv 2 and if it take a couple more months to deliver an outstanding product, I'll gladly wait for it.

It's a testament to your company to see the personal interest and passion that drives you reflected in your updates.

Well said, and I concur. I think the release date is in 2015, so it doesn't look like they are rushing things.

I would agree too, but with reservations.... you want them to take their time, but you don't want them standing around the coffee machine half the day either!

I'm inclined to agree, but I don't want it to become vapourware like certain games that shall not be named...

The biggest sin there is that the game sucked when it came out. 3d Realms used "when it's ready" for so long that they had no focus and never finished it, and went out of business. Gearbox just threw what was left out the door eventually.

There's something to be said for not releasing it before it's done, but there's also something to be said for having a clear goal and not saying "well we have forever so we can just putz around for six years".

Steve Jobs came along and said, "we need to fix these fonts, no matter how long it takes"

Stardock proved they knew about GUI more than anyone else (even one particularly not large, nor hard company), so fonts are elements I have zero worries about. ;)

Although X-Rebirth's release state was nothing unexpected to me, I think it could use more time in development. Or, at least, in public beta-testing, prior release.

So haste makes waste, I don't need another ME3.

ME3's problem wasn't time, it was the writers suffering a catastrophic case of stupid right at the end. :P

ME3 had far more problems, than just events past meeting with Marauder "Health" Shields, yet I agree, writers faux ingenuity seem to be major issue. Even if we ignore horrible animations, questionnable graphics, and even more questionnable game design decisions, and almost absolute lack of attention to the details. O:)

So they either had little time, or they have big headedness superiority complex.

I tend to take the view of put the game out in beta early and keep it there until it is nailed down. With no retail, there is no pressure to have it out at a specific time.

What's Me3.

In this case - ignorance is a bliss. Keep it that way.

Cool my acquantances at work were trying to get me to play that game in 2011. This game had won an award with maximum oc. One of my acquantances at work said that was the greatest games ever.

ME3 was released in 2012, so I doubt your coworkers talking about it. Though I knew people who think that way. But they liked Dragon Age 2 or Justin Bieber (whoever it is).

Mass Effect 3 was a work of art! How dare you belittle my game! /feigned anger

Seriously though, the emotional writing in that game had me by the balls

You mean lack of emotional writing, right? And common sense. And attention to details.

ME3 was good until it kind of blew up at the end, but it's the weakest of the three.

Well, I'm happy for you feeling this way. After Mars I looked pretty much like surprised Geralt most of the time. For me ME3 ending isn't worst than the rest of the game, it is on par with it. Chaff and flares to draw attention, maybe.

Ok this article must of been in 2012. Sometimes when you are remembering things the times change by a few months. Now I think about it it was towards the beginning of the year of 2012. The magazine could of been ending a year like taxes for all I know. Thanks for correcting me.

You're welcome. (this is the only friendly enough looking smilie)

Personally I prefer to read "previews" and "reviews" after I already played the game. It could be very funny this way. Like "choices matter". 8O
