Very strange rules for Ventolin inhaller in Canadian schools

I saw this story about how a boy died after his Ventolin inhaler was confiscated at school??? Apparently that school and many others in Canada have a policy that the children are forbidden to carry their Ventolin with them, it has to be kept under lock and key in the office?

Now in my life i have heard of allot of stupid dumb laws/rules/policies popping up in our modern politically correct democracies, but this one takes the cake!

Can anyone explain it, have other comment or similar in their area?
