Custom ships appear garbled

Hi,

I bought GC2 UE on Steam recently. Wow.. how addictive?!

I'm having a small issue and a quick search here and on google didn't find anything so it seems I may be unique here. Initially I was launching the game using GalCiv2.exe (to play the original campaign), and then GC2 DarkAvatar.exe to play the second campaign. All along not realising that I could play both those campaigns using GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe and that I'd been missing out on a lot of features. Since running Twilight though (but playing Dark Avatar campaign), I've noticed on three occasions now when I create a custom ship it appears garbled in the battle viewer and main galaxy screen. It seems they have a couple of Drengin style wings added in places I never added them in the Designer. When I return to the shipyard to check the design, it looks normal again. If I upgrade the ship, it still appears garbled. Very weird.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Also, what does sentry and guard do exactly. Because I tried putting a Scout on sentry and guard hoping he might avoid combat, but he still just seems to sit there and be destroyed by passers by.

I got the same problem. Bought the game on steam awhile ago but I only just now got around to playing it.

 

Custom ships look great when you're building them but then look like a jumbled up mess on the map and during battles.

 

It's a bit disheartening to see that this topic is like 3 months old and no answer was given. I'll try to link this topic to a new one in the bug forums.
