GC2U and Modding

Mods not working.

And so, I decided to reinstall GC2U.

This time, I figured, I'd play the game with mods, because, well... change is good.

And there I got stuck.

Game installed flawless, verified working, got me a mod (RoninTholianV12200838) but I can't get the damned thing working.

I placed it first in the Default Directory (Gamedrive\GC2U\Mods\Default), then I read somewhere I should get the mod in the Mods directory, another said "Oh, no, User blahblah Ships, then another told me to make a NEW map in the gamedrive, drop all there, then in PREFS.INI you tell where this mods folder is, done this, no result.

Mod simply refuses to work, though it HAS 4 stars.

Tried a single ship then, I figured, maybe a problem with the mod (but then WHY 4 stars???)?

Single ship, same shit.

Mod... not working.

No matter what I try *I even dropped the stuff in the general DATA folder, there is a shipcfg folder) but alas, NO MOD!

Oh, and eh, YES, I ticked the USE MOD box...   :P

Can someone please help me?

Thank you.

If it's from the Library, it may be an old mod, in which case you'll need to use it with GC2: Dread Lords or GC2: Dark Avatar.

To do that you'll need to take a look under your game directory, find GalCiv2.exe (or GC2DarkAvatar.exe in the DarkAvatar folder) and make a shortcut to them so you can launch them instead of Twilight of the Arnor, which is the default.

Can't really tell you any more than that without a link to the mod.

The Ultimate Edition is really the original GC2 plus the two expansions, DA and TA.  So yes, the mod should work fine.

Have you had a look at this mod installation guide?

Mod installation for GC2: Ultimate Edition

Yes I have.

I made even a new MOD folder, pointed PREFS to that dir, no use.

The mods don't seem to be working, in the mods part of the game neither show up.

When making a new game, I do not see the ships in the ship lists, only the regular ones?

I am baffled...

Have you followed the installation instructions from the mod description?

"Simply unzip files(except for the ShipCfg folder) to their appropriate folders in: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\

Now for the ShipCfg folder:
Do not overwrite your ShipCfg folder! Take the files provided in the pack's ShipCfg folder and copy them to:
C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\ShipCfg

Backup the older folder if you wish but it won't mess it up."

Works fine for me.

I have a DarkAvatar dir, no other in the game dir.

As for the documents: no special (DA, TA, other) dir is found.

Do I put the config file in the DA ship config dir?

Apologies for the late response, I had a darned hectic day yesterday.

Thank you for response.

If you have the Ultimate Edition, then you should have a Twilight directory.

You need to have run the game at least once for the directory to appear.

No, the config files need to go into the ShipCFG directory from the Twilight folder. They are not compatible with DA.

GOD!

I missed that dir.

Testing as we speak.

Thank you.
