MS has released IE 11 for Windows 7

IE 11, which is part of the W8.1 update for W8.1 from W8 has been released for Windows 7 as well.

Interestingly, it hasn’t been released for Windows 8, and won’t be released for Windows Vista nor XP. I doubt it will be the reason to update to W8.1, by itself. If you don’t want it, there’s a tool to block the update from your network: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40722

However, when compared to IE 9 or 10, it is improved, noticably. It has been touted as faster than Chrome and Firefox, but that really depends on which tool is used to measure the speed, despite MS telling you it’s 30% faster. It looks the same, which means you know what.

(from ghacks.net)

There’s a list of unsupported features of IE 11 on W7 (for devs, mostly)…and you can find it here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/dn394063%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#unsupported_features

If you’re on Windows 7 (like me) and want IE 11, here’s where to download it from:

I wonder when IE will allow all the extensions like Firefox. When that day comes, and IE has a way to set a minimum font size and font type, I will switch over.

Doc, just one question, any problems with using IE 11, Windows 7 64 bit and SD/WC sites?

I've been a Chrome user for several years and recently tried IE10 and was pleasantly surprised. IE10 loaded webpages faster than Chrome and eventually I made the transition. I upgraded to IE11 yesterday and again I am impressed. No issues so far and a slight improvement on page loading going from 10 to 11. The IE Team at Microsoft have done a good job

Don't know, Philly.Saw no real reason to switch from those I use now.

I'm using IceDragon and Chrome...mostly. Also Pale Moon...still a great browser.

I have a question, Doc. Just curious. IF  a person finds one browser that pretty much just works everywhere, what would be the need/purpose for multiple browsers?

I haven't found one browser that works well at all sites, but if I did?

I have used IE 11 for a few days and I am not sold on it. For example I wanted to stream some hockey last night and was told that I needed to install flashplayer 11 which I have intstalled and enabled in IE 11. I had to use another browser just to stream NHL. I use IE 9 on my desktop and find it to be better. I still like Palemoon the best though.

One nice thing...it does render the pics and reflections correctly, and is quite fast.

I installed IE11 and am not happy

I get server errors on certain web sites and content is missing on others.

I have gone back to IE10.
