I'm confused; is this a serial number?

I bought the Gold Edition from Amazon and on the back there's a sticker that says "GC2 GOLD REG CODES" on the top and below that, a series of 30 characters in this fashion(XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) that contain A-F and 0-9. What is this? Don't serials have 28 digits?

I also bought the Gold Edition back in the day, and that is definitely the right serial code. Stardock changed the serial codes later on, I believe.

Some of the older serials are 28 characters. They currently are all 30 (6 sets of 5). If you have trouble with the serial, send us an email at [email protected] with the serial number so we can look into it.

I can't activate my GalCiv II Ultimate in my account, why?? Is 30 digits key.
