Galactic Civilizations III Founder's Repository Now Open

Galactic Civilizations III Founder's Repository Now Open

https://www.galciv3.com/founders

We've added a cool new feature to our Founder's program: a behind-the-scenes look at some of the pieces of Galactic Civilizations III as they're being built.

We're planning on adding new content to the Repository on a regular basis, but for now all Founders can listen in on some of the music our talented composer has already finished for the game.

In the future, we're looking at dropping the following types of things into the Repository:

  • Music
  • Concept art, including early/rejected stuff that we normally wouldn't share
  • Design thoughts from the cutting room floor
  • ...and anything else that comes to Brad's mind

Check out the Founder's Repository here

So... we can have a paper ship? Or one made out of jelly-beans?

Wonderful music. I hope galciv3 is designed to make adding music an easy thing to do for non-uber modder/users. @the concern about non-founders lack of access to the 'goodies.' May I suggest that after a period of time, say a month, (illustration purposes only), items be moved to a place where all StarDockians may view them?

To obtain access you need have purchased the the Founder's Edition of Galactic Civilizations III."

Anyone know what the deal is here?

You had two accounts... Merged them.

I thought I used this one to buy the game. Thanks a lot for fixing it for me. |-)

There was one guy who had to wait something like 2 days before his forum badge showed up.  I'd posit that once your badge shows up, you'll be able to log on as a founder.

To maybe speed things up a bit, you could try sending the OP of this thread (abiessener) a PM asking him to look into it.  He's a Stardock dude and likely has his finger on the pulse of things.

Oh I didn't know about the badge thing (didn't read very closely lol). Where do I find it? Am I supposed to have got a private message?

Don't worry U have a badge inderneath your name.

I was so excited to hear about GalCiv III!  Stardock is a fantastic company and GalCiv is one of my all-time favorites.  I admit, I have tons of questions, but one I've been wanting to ask is:  will the map be hex or square?

Cheers!

Great news, things to add to the people who so deserve this information,

That question has already be answered, you should read some of the topics and the faq :)

Question:

How many of you have the original OS/2 galciv?

Pretty sure I still have my floppies in a box around here somewhere.

Sucks to be me, I would get founders but I cannot until the end of November, who knows when the deals will end.

Never played galciv1, played all galciv2, still on cd rom.

Played galciv1, still have it. Loved it. My father and I both freaked when we discovered it.

I'm sure I still have mine, but I'm also sure it would take quite a while to find them.  Probably in the garage, still packed in a box from my last move.

Nice, we will be able to use different colors for hulls and windows in the ship editor. What is a texure though?

Think materials.  In GalCiv II, you could change color but you couldn't change material (graphics technology wasn't there yet).  Different substances interact with light in different ways.

Heh, of course, in GalCiv II, we didn't even have self-shadowing!

I think he was making fun of the typo in the word "texture", Brad ;)

A New Beginning is just so beautifully arranged. I'm glad you kept this iconic theme.

When I click on the images it attempts to download... I can't just view them?  I have to download it?

Stardock said they will give plenty of notice before they take the deals down so any late comers can jump on. and for the repository they don't plan to take it down any time soon you have plenty of time. these were said in various posts that I don't feel like looking up right now to link them.

The repository is a great idea.  That stuff is teasing me like Christmas presents when I was a kid.  Chinese tickle torture ain't got anything on GC3 waiting torture.

One quick suggestion though, content should be dated and/or sorted (or be able to be sorted) in order of posting.  It took me a moment to spot the new picture that was added just recently of the small ship zoomed in.  When the repository gets larger, it will be harder and harder to spot new content.

And apparently someone already asked in a different thread.  Never mind the second half then.

I think there should be a quick link to this on the main page??  Or am I just blind and it is there and I completely missed it :(

Zooming up close to the Yor picture... (looks into your soul) "MEATBAG"

The images don't work for me unless I save and rename them. I'm getting files just called "Ship" with no extension, in Firefox. Renaming them to add the extension fixes it.

On my iPad (where I can't do that), the images are unusable. They just show up as walls of text.

I got the same problem too.

When i download the files on my mac, the files have .html at the end of them.

when in delete the .html they work normally.

When i download them on Windows, they work fine.

Should be fixed now. I had to force the content-type for images, so different OS's and Browsers would save it with the correct extension.

Lots of new stuff added today.
