Krynn Corporation, the New Korx?

I was a late bloomer to Galciv 2, but when I first played it, I fell in love with the Krynn Consulate. I liked the idea of a multiracial / multispecies group that is unified by a belief.

After reading this: https://www.galciv3.com/databanks/our-story/our-story-today, my eyes focused on two things: "The Korx are gone." and "The zealots known as the Krynn have taken their zealotry into the world of commerce in the form of the Krynn Corporation."

Everyone knows that the Korx would sell you their own mothers to make a buck, and with this new economic emphasis that the Krynn are taking, I'm thinking that the remnants of the Korx will join up with the Krynn?

I also really liked the Korx in Galciv 2 as well, and I enjoyed seeing both Kralax and Ynrhed Eidden's faces when you talked to them in the diplomacy screen.

While the hypothetical marriage of two of my favorite factions would be great, I still hope both of these two leaders (or their successors) still make it in the game.

What do you all think?

Will the Korx join the Krynn? Or will the defeated Korx have to change gears from an economic emphasis to being pirates of sort while the Krynn take on the duties of galactic commerce leaders?

Intriguing, we could all take the boring route and say the Korx join the Krynn, but why would such an evil trading civilization be pirating stuff instead trading their goods? I think that would be a very strange plot twist to see the Korx to be behaving this way and would make an interesting long term story of what they are really up to.

I think the Korx were a big part of the game, and I hope they return as an independent faction. Whether or not I'm evil, I like having a race whose morals are dictated by profit.

As far as the Krynn, though, I thought they were "committed" to spreading their religion. Giving that up for commerce seems out of character, unless that's a means to an end.

The Korx civilization got wiped out in DA. Only a few members managed to survive. I find it highly unlikely that they will return as race (major or minor).

I'm not sure what to make of that either. You're right, that it seems out of character for the Krynn.

I'm not happy to hear that any of the races are gone.  I hoped for all the original ones, plus more.

Then why are they in ToA?

I'm hoping that Galciv 3 will include all the previous game's races, wiped out or not, at least in skirmish mode (or the basic non-campaign mode.)

Or at least have all the components/character portraits/super abilities in the custom race creator so we can make throwback versions of races.

Because they were only wiped out in the campaign (same as the Drath). For the sandbox they were still available. However, the devs said back then, that those two races would not be back in GalCiv 3.

Based on Frogboy's answer to one of my questions, that may have changed regarding the Drath.

Really all I care about is sandbox mode.  I've never played any of the campaigns.  Regardless of story events in the campaigns, I would hope that all races are represented in sandbox mode.

Don't forget how much Brad likes to surprise us. What Brad said about the Darth was "The Drath homeworld was wiped out. But the Drath aren't necessarily extinct." After he said that, can we really believe that the Korx are extinct?

The datalinks say: "The Korx are gone." That sentence doesn't leave much room for interpretation.

However, like I said earlier, some members of the Korx may still be alive. In one of the DA missions, for example, you are escorting one of the Korx leaders to safety, while their homeworld gets wiped out by the Korath. So, as a civilization they are definitely gone, but we may run into some lone survivors.

I finally found this sentence in the databanks, after much scanning (it is a shame the databanks doesn't have a search feature).

OK, so they are gone. But I notice that it doesn't say they were annihilated to the last Korx. And, saying they are gone could raise the question of "gone where?". Into hiding? Exterminated? ??? And this is the basis for my suggesting that we should wait and see what Brad has in store for us regarding the Korx.

Nor did I say they were. As I mentioned, you did save a Korx leader in one of the missions of the DA campaign.

Okay, how about this then?

"Two of the major civilizations in GalCiv II will be wiped out. Eliminated. You'll still be able to play them in GalCiv II but come GalCiv III, they won't exist. Eradicated. Individuals of the two races may still exist and show up in GalCiv III but as playable races, their histories will come to an end."

Granted, it's an old post (made long before DA came out), so some things may have changed since then, but that was the plan.

Seeing as most players spend most of their time in sandbox mode rather than the campaign, I hope Brad's post holds true. Can any Stardockians confirm which pre-existing races will be sandbox-playable?

The Krynn started out as essentially zealots for their way of life. But their culture has been taken over, internally, by organized crime.  They're not "traders".  The Irridium Corporation is the closest thing to the Korx except the Korx were more like Ferengi and the Irridium are more like...I dunno, Buy and Large.

Oh boy! I wonder if their Influence/Culture emphasis has changed? Or if their Neutral alignment is leaning more Evil?

Organized crime . . . War profiteering? Black market mercenaries? A "Waste Management" improvement? ;P I can imagine a "How you doin'?" sort of nod to Tony Soprano as dialogue haha.
