If you have registered the game with Stardock, you can download a fully patched installer from them directly. Just go to their store page and log into your account. You can find the downloader on the My Downloads page.
Another way is to use the Gamestopp app (formerly known as Impulse) to patch the game. Although, the Stardock Central program might be able to recognise earlier editions (pre-Ultimate Edition) of the game now, too.
In any case, there is no way to download a seperate patch-file.
Edit: Also, v1.8 is outdated. The latest version for DA is 2.01, and for TotA 2.04.
I just downloaded that software and its not detecting my copy of galciv2... This is in addition to my ongoing hardship in what should be the simple task of getting a freaking patch!!!

Did you buy a new or used copy? If it's been registered by someone else, you won't be able to transfer it to yourself. If it's new, you can contact Stardock Support and open a ticket.

If you can return it to Amazon, you can get the ultimate version from the Stardock Store for 20 bucks.
