I think Zydor might be guilty of this.

He just keeps repeating his "it's not a shoot-them-up" and "hell freezes over first" lines when people discuss more involved combat, yet not once has anyone ever suggested anything of the like.

Well, maybe this shouldn't be brought up. Most of you are aware of this issue anyways. Thanks for your time and ignore this post.

Trollin' trollin' trollin', keep them puppies trollin'....

RAAAAAAAAWWWHIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!

Just because you disagree with people it doesn't make them trolls.  Get over yourself.

And Zydor only says that because it's true and appropriate.

<edit> That comment was directed at Surge in case it wasn't clear. </edit>

I am wondering if Zydor is misinterpreting what others are saying. He seems to be thinking that everyone wants to eliminate the strategy aspects of the game.

Guy has a right to his opinion. You have a right to disagree with him when he gives it.

No, Zydor isn't trolling he's stating his opinion and there's nothing wrong with that.  What is irritating though is when people state their OPINION as FACT.  Doesn't make it trolling but its annoying.

Excuse me, its me that is trolling for even thinking this was a good idea to bring this up to the forums.

No. It's not you trolling. You were just stating what you thought. Nothing wrong there.

Well, I've been trollin' the strat-tac thread off and on. 'Tis a lively bunch in there.

Anything that doesn't fit his list of "This is GalCiv" will turn the game into a FPS? Really? Being "hostile" to open discussion/suggestions about a game about which the closest thing we know about gameplay is that it'll be like GalCiv II with improvements but nothing else or tangible facts?

Stardock, much like the Cylons, has a plan. If we trust Stardock, we should trust that they know what they are doing (or what they want to do). When they start giving data away, we can give our opinion, share thoughts and stuff. But when dealing with stuff we know nothing about, let people speculate as much as they want and ask/suggest stuff. As long as it makes sense and can fit (even if in the end it's not used), let people entertaint themselves with those topics. Stardock will make sure to do a natural selection of what can interest them or not. And once they take a stance in one topic, loser side should let go. I mean, if Stardock decides to spend 99.99% of their budget in battle animations to make tactical battles to look like Battlestar Galactica CGI battles... well, that'd mean that podHortz people would have taken over Stardock!!! And we could either support their decission or run away like Sir Robin. *makes some horse sounds with coconuts*

Cannot wait for the heated threads discussing Stardock's ideas about the different improvements they plan... }:)

Thank you for someone finally having some reading comprehension.

To everyone else, it was never a matter of disagreeing with someone's opinion. It was Zydor being rather hostile to absolutely any discussion on evolving the combat gameplay beyond watching from afar, and how changing anything about it would instantly make it "a shoot-them-up" or RTS.

Edit: But yes, I agree. I should never have really posted this. It achieves nothing. Sorry.

It's not a huge deal man and it's cool that you apologize, but just remember I'm sure they already have a pretty good idea of what they're planning to build. I'm sure our input will be taken into account but in the end they'll make the game they feel best represents their vision. Anything anyone says on here is speculation and what he wants isn't any more important or accurate than what anyone else says. Ignore him.

Don't forget that StarBases and StarDocks were ideas that were made by the user community during test and included before the test cycle was completed. Stardocks in the OS2 version (was it version 2.5?) and StarBases in GC1.

Like I said I'm sure community input will be there, but I also believe they have a vision for what they are trying to create.
