Trying to Update GalCiv2

Hello

I haven't played Galactic Civilizations 2 in about 3 years, but decided to play it again after I heard about GalCiv3 coming out. When I load it up it says there's updates for the game, and redirects me to Impulse, which I still have installed. It won't let me login because Impulse no longer exists (I assume). I've discovered that GameStop took over the service, but it won't accept my login credentials. I tried registering a new account, but it won't let me use my email address because it shows that email already in use. So I know my account was transferred, but for whatever reason it won't let me access it.

In desperation I registered a new Gamestop account, but of course my games are not associated with it so I'm no further ahead. I also registered for Stardock Central, but it doesn't list or detect any of my Stardock games. I'm out of ideas!

I own the physical copies of my games, so all I want to do is update them with the latest updates and patches. How do I do it? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that Impulse is dead.  You can probably find your games and updates on the Stardock support site.

https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount

After you log in using the email and password associated with the game, you can go to My Downloads.  It should be listed there with the keys and all.

I assume that the updates are attached to the downloads.

I tried that. It does not list any of my games. There also doesn't seem to be any way for me to register the games. They're installed on my computer, but there's no detect function that I can find.

Basically nothing shows up at all, and there's no obvious way to make anything show up.

Bummer.  You'll probably have to open a ticket with Stardock Support.

There's a thread for activations in the GalCiv2 forums that seems to get attention from Stardock, but there hasn't been a post there since last year.  https://forums.galciv2.com/122873/page/15/#3301976

It's worth a try anyway.

Worth a shot. Thanks.

I love Stardock games, but I wish they wouldn't tie updates to a game downloading service. I could understand if I bought the games electronically, but I purposely bought physical copies so I wouldn't run into this problem. They're legit copies, with legit activation keys, so there should be a way to download a patch or upgrade. Heck, I still play MOO2 without any problems! Anyway, just an observation.
