Two suggestions.....

Just two suggestions I thought of

sensors are underpowered. can there be stealth modules that as they get better u need better scanners to see them? stealth would be really cool, but would have to make it so cloaked shios cant attack the same turn they cloak or decloak.

so, stargates? from my understanding they do the same thing as engines, so as you get better engines you shoukd be able to build better stargates.they could be like terror stars where they require several modules and you would need one at both sides. basically a ship in the same sector as a stargate, if its on, could travel super fastly to another stargate. you would have to own or be allied to both stargates, then turn them on and link them.

so, stargates?

I was thinking something similar but with wormholes galciv II already has temporary wormholes i think having permanent wormholes would add a little something to the game

Stargates got canned when hyperdrive entered the scene;

https://www.galciv3.com/databanks/our-story/humanity-and-hyperdrive

Research firms across the planet quickly concluded that a propulsion system could be developed using the theories from the stargate that would enable individual ships to travel on their own. Those same individual ships would also be able to travel much faster than they could through a stargate. A ship going through a stargate would still take months, even years, to go relatively short distances. With the new hyperdrive system, that time would be halved with improvements possible for even greater relative speeds.

Stargates would result is serious Game imbalances, and are just an attempt to get round the movement restrictions Brad imposed on ships towards the end of the GalCiv II series.

It will result enhanced BattleGiants collected behind a couple of Stargates ready to transposrt instantly across the Game Universe - a cheap way of defence or attack, and very unbalancing for the Game.

Stargates will never happen in GalCiv - ever.

Yes, because Hyperdrive made them obsolete, not because of your reasons. Stargates wouldn't allow instantaneous travel anyhow. That's not how they work in the GalCiv lore. In fact, they are much slower than Hyperdrive (still better than STL, though).

That was the lore reason used to explain why they weren't used. The practical reason was that the AI wouldn't be able to use them as well as the player, so the gates would be a huge unbalance in the player's favor. It's possible that practical reason might not apply any more, so stargates might be seen again.

Im not the fan of stargate's unless you could build AND destroy them. (should be high tech)

Having them ready in the map would ruin the map balance and colony rush.

Perhaps some kind secret mission type stargate that some games have? Like send ships, kill the ancient enemy and get some special tech or even a planet.
