Is it IE 11? Is it Windows 8.1?

Is it IE 11? Is it Windows 8.1?

Is it just me?

Hey computer users. I have a problem, was wondering if anyone else is seeing it, or has any suggestions? Only happens at WC, btw.

When on WinCustomize forums, you can mouse over a topic and get a small preview of that topic, well, mine aren't going away.

I have to close IE 11 and reopen it to get rid of it.   Windows 8.1 MCE 64 bit.

Bigger question here:

Why are you all using IE11 instead of Chrome? Even Firefox.

Even taking in the current problems with IE 11, it would be a question as to what people find that works for them.  Folks I think have found that each browser that is available will have their own unique pros and cons.  All about individual choice.  :sun:

Believe it or not, some of us actually prefer Internet Explorer. I'd be using IE9 if it were a choice. Best browser ever, IMO, YMMV.

I ONLY have trouble with IE 11 on WinCustomize.com. Nowhere else.

Exactly. Thank you. For me I don't use IE simply because of the lack of extensions that can be added as in Firefox and Chrome and you can't set a minimum font size for all web pages.

I am pro windows 7 but after my laptop gave up the ghost I bought a new one that came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Where I could get the best deal only had Windows 8 machines so I had little choice. That is yet another reason why some of us abandon a perfectly good operating system. Seems to me most people do it anyway. It was not that long ago I heard people saying they would never install Windows 7 on their machines.  Having said that I am not minding 8.1 after installing Stardock software to make it look more like my old Windows 7.

Jim I don't have the problem you are having and I am using IE 11. I also use Pale Moon because for some reason I cannot run IE in Sandboxie.

Junior, you can easily install windows 7 on your new rig, if you wanted. No one is stuck with 8 because their new rig has it.

I realize that Jim but why buy Windows 7 when I don't have any major problems with 8.1? It came with the machine free.

I guess I assumed that you still had your old copy of Windows 7.

I was thinking that like myself, some may still have their old windows 7, bought earlier.

I bought Windows 7 when it released. Since I build my own PCs now, I don't have a version "tied" to an OEM machine. So I could use it on any new machine I might buy that has Windows 8 on it, if I wanted to.

I use 8.1 as my main OS, with a few problems, but none major. I use 7 on my lappy, and as a dual boot with 8.1.

Understood. I don't have a copy but could get one if needed. As of now I see no need to abandon 8.1. Windowblinds works fine and any software that I have installed so far works fine. I don't know if it matters but I am using the AMD A8 processor with 8gb of ram. The fastest laptop I have owned yet.

I just wish I didn't have this problem with IE 11. Other than that, I have very few qualms with 8.1.

I wish I could roll it back to IE 10. Or even 9.

But 8.1 came with IE 11 and I don't think I can go backwards.

Press F12 while in IE 11...on the far left side, scroll down and click on the emulation icon (it won't say emulation unless you hover over it)...you can change the "User agent string" to a variety of internet browsers....may or may not solve your problems...

To my knowledge there is no easy way to uninstall 11. You only have the option to turn it off which is useless. Have you tried to do a IE reset? Like I say my preview windows on Wincustomize do not freeze.

RND - just use Chrome or Firefox. Problem solved.

Problem is only solved when the browser I prefer, is fixed. Since the problem is almost 100% confined to WinCustomize, I am using Chrome for WC. I assume eventually, IE 11, or WC, will change, and this will go away.

You don't get a new dog because yours is sick, you take it to the vet.   ;)

I may have stumbled upon a solution.

Seems there's the desktop IE11 and then there's the metro version of IE11.

Seems it doesn't happen when using the metro IE11. Problem solved!
