How To Get Windows Experience Index (WEI) Score In Windows 8.1

In case you didn't know.

Well, first thing I noticed on Windows 8.1 is the lack of a WEI score.

So, Wiz and I naturally googled and found this.

Thought I'd post it in case you guys didn't know.

well, if Windows 8.1 lacks this feature (as pointless as it may be ... i used it one time only), that should be an opportunity to create a DesktopX widget for this task.

- find the file (as the file name is different on each machine) using wildcards.

- parse it just like you would parse a weather feed.

- profit

i already wrote a Rainmeter skin to do this, just waiting for some confirmation regarding the os version strings for 8 and 8.1 (as the scale is different than on Windows 7).

If I could write script, or even knew what parse meant, then I would make said DesktopX widget. I hope someone does, but I doubt it. DX is dead.

Also, I've wonder ever since it showed up, just how important is a WEI score, other than to the very knowledgeable?  For the rest of the folks is it just 'My computer is better than yours'?

i think this is the one of the most useless skins i have ever written, second only to the skin that displays your current wallpaper :)

anyways, here it is (requires: Windows 7 or up, Rainmeter 3.0 or up)
