- less cheesy industry/sci model (never liked how you could shift them and/or just build all factories and use them for research with no real penalty).  I think the system itself is pretty slick but it could use some improvements to make industry and sci a little less interchangeable.

- I've made this comment forever and it applies to other stardock games.  Make the ESC key work correctly!  ESC should close the most recently opened window and if NO windows are open, it should open the system/options/whatever dialog.  The fact that stardock continually screws up this behavior boggles my mind when they develop so much software for windows and this is basic behavior for standard windows apps!

- more of everything without changing the core game too much.  There are a lot of space 4x out there but galciv2 is STILL one of the best, right up there with MOO2 IMO.  So in making a GC3, you want to retain what makes GC2 (and GC1) great without going too overboard and/or twisting things too much.  Expand on the elements of the game that exist without making the game into something else.  The GC1 to GC2 transition was very good - GC3 from GC2 needs to follow the same path.

Ultimately none of this matters unless there is a GC3 some day, which I hope there is, because IMO it's Stardock's best game series.  I like FELH enough but I still prefer galciv by far.

More moddable content, including custom UIs.

External editors like with GCIIUE*

*An external race editor

A default tech tree viewer that is on the main menu, for debugging mods without launching a new game.

and stuff from this thread not already mentioned here:

I agree with better modding ability I thought the editor was limited in that it didn't let u make more races to include on the game I noticed it didn't let u load techs from other tech trees I also it was very rough on that it didn't really let u control the size of the map what I am really talking about is specifying a larger map than imense I also would like to add more players wgat I am talking is like a poll of all the Techs and units on the game to modify tech trees I also thought that U shoud be able to do more things with making techs considering that u have a lot of abilities u can modify on the game.

I would like to alsp siggest that since windows by default has paint and lets u scan stuff in lets not forget about windows media player these could be incorporated into the editor with little extra code considering they r there wether u use it or not this is also there on no matter what windows computer u use

I would like to be able to use the editor to fully modify the game

You can be more active in getting your wishlists to the developers by becoming a founder.  To get in on the public alpha, buy the "Elite Founder" package.

INTERACTIVE invasion battles with strategy involved !! PLEEEASE !!

Thanks Mottikgan I don't have $100 laying around, but that sounds like a good investment. I would still like to hear ideas from everyone hopefully people will keep contributing, but that was my main idea was to send a message ti Stardock to either make a new turn based tech based space stratdegy game or make a new game of Galactic cilizations Toa is a good game I was just saying its time to come out with a new one every attempt stardock comes out with a new game they r confused what type of game Galactic civilizations is though Sins of a solar empire was a good attempt I have given my own opinion on how u should upgrade Galactic civilizations on other posts though

I'm not saying that everyone has $99.00 of ready cash laying around.  But if you do, you can get in on the ground floor so to speak and make productive comments and requests after playing the alpha a bit.  Asking for stuff blind might be all good and well, but if you see it in action, you can see what would work within the framework of the game.

There's a $39.00 option too.  And if you intend to play the game, you'll be able to come up with $49.00 later.  Why not $39.00 earlier and at least have a part in the beta?

Yeah I noticed a cheaper option to can U tell me the difference between the two and how each one affects your idea differently by contrasting and comparing them.

I would appreciate more options for the fine-tuning and configuring of the sandbox options. Perhaps utilizing sliders or ranges instead of discrete choices. I'd like it to have an improved AI and finally see conquered planet's past developments make sense. I'm very interested to hear what is being done with the AI.I'd also like to see the tech tree represented in 3 dimensions.

And please do not pull a Rome III and remove features we love or mess with the core UI.

And thank you thank you for GalCiv III.

How about this for starters:

Q: Will the game require a network connection to play?
A:
No. However, some of the AI learning mechanisms will require access to the Metaverse in order to perform analysis on player strategies. This will be optional and able to be disabled by the player but does require an Internet connection.

You have the same info as I do.  https://www.galciv3.com/store shows both options side by side.  If you want to be in on the beginning, the more expensive option will get you into the public alpha sometime in the winter.  The cheaper option will let you in during the beta, after we play around and give our inputs in the alpha phase.

Typically, the alpha stage is more open to ideas and is closed to the general public.  Stardock is giving us a unique opportunity here.  The beta stage is typically there primarily to do a final debugging before release.  There's usually a closed forum that alpha and beta testers can participate in.  I'm sure your ideas will be heard either way.

Thanks Mottikhan I'm going to try for the Alpha version. I'm now going to drop ideas on what I would like to see added in galactic civilizations 3. In regard to multiplayer. There's a couple of things I want to see besides multiplayer. I would like to see a hotseat option.

What this is a multiple players on 1 computer taking turns. I've only seen this idea in civilizations. I would also like to see it hear. I also would like to have networking option not just online, and the combination of the 2. What I mean is like the hotseat game. Where u take turns on one computer, but u can take turns on multiple computers networked together ie 4 players on 2 computers on the same game.

I would like to see a map based on your Ram and virtual memory. If I could do this I would probably increase my virtual memory to 100 gigabytes. Some people have up to 64 gigabytes Ram of memory. I only have 8 with a terabyte hardrive. Here's an idea before installing it could check the system configuration.

This means if I changed my virtual memory I would probably have to rescan my computer, so I would have this as an option instead of reloading the game everytime. That way we can make full use of memory. I would like to see more races. I would like to see balanced races, so I don't feal cheated when I play my favorite races. Balanced Ai, so they can play agionst each other instead of cowering before 1 all powerful race like the Thalans.

More customised race photos. I would like to be able to shut off planet trading for the Ai this does not make sense. U can win the game by buying planets. The races r even willing to trade out of existence, and  lose their sovernty. I would like to eliminate this.

I would then like to have this as an option. Do u think we would sell Florida or California. They sell them all; even, if they have galactic achievements, capitals, or if they have a planet quality over 20. Why do they sell their resources or survey ships. I would like to see a bigger map if I can't have one based on memory.

Does anyone remember Teturkministan from civilization 3.  I want to see a 31 player game, but like a space version. Check out civics from civilization 4. I like the idea of having anti matter ability from promotion like sins of a solar empire, and the pirates from sins of a solar empire. I like the black market from sins of a solar empire.

Did I mention I like how U can pick multiple leaders from the same civ with different abilities from civilization 4. I like how free civ and civilization 1 had 83 and 41 civilizations. This could be translated to meaning multiple species of aliens. I would like to see an editor that can create a mod as good as modders do, Civilization is willing to give source code why not Galactic civilizations. This is very complicated, so I would still like to be able to mod, and have an editor that works with full modding ability.

I would suggest looking at the editor in civilization 3 as an example. I would like to see more customised tech trees. I also would like to make the same abilities with different personalities or Tech trees as the stock races. As an example, The Krynn have a morale of 50% super spy with a Krynn Tech tree with 20% added to morale and a populists party this is 80%. Lets say I want to custumise.

I want to be able to make 50% morale  with a Torian tech tree and a super breeder; I still want to add 20% to morale, and have a populists party, and I also want to minuturise; this is just an example of customisation. I think it would be nice to have some of the same abilities when u custumise as the stock races. I would like to be able to have great people like they have in civilization 4. I also like what they have in medieval total war. With the interaction of the different leaders.

This will have to be modifies to fit Galactic civilizations; because, of the time scale or the fact this is in space. I would also like them to be called species not races. Blacks whites and orientals r the races because they r from the same animal. The Races in Galactic civilizations wouldn't even be from the same kingdom; being from a different planet they r seperate species not races. I would like to see a more fair option with random events or planet artifacts. Lets say I want to be good or take the good option.

Why do u penalise me for being good or neutral. What I'm saying when I pick any other option than being evil U either reward evil more or penalise me for any other option. One way we can deal with this is takeing turns with who gets penalised, or give equal but different types of rewarding capability on the decisions u make, or having events that would lead to a rewarding good and penalising evil. Now lets deal with the galactic council. I would like to have an option on what to vote on with who has the most influence, but if it is equal all the races should vote on who's going to pick what we vote on.

If there r two players with the same influence we can solve tjis one of two ways. The computer can pick the subjects at random, or the races can vote on who picks trhe subject between the races with the tying highest influence. If the Ai wins U can decide the subject randomely, or based on alignment and personality. I would like normal to mean even playing field not challenging. This

I would like to see where the minumum requirement of 100 economics military and research also apply to the Ai. Instead of giving arbitrary bonuses on easier and harder levels to economics I would like to see the Ai try harder instead. Now on advanced algorithms at the hardest level I would like to see Ais that can learn if it is not working try something new and try copying the other players.  This would have to be both the Ai's the player meets and the ones he fights. The Ai would be saved everytime the game is saved. U would have to have an option to reset the Ai.

I forgot one thing the Jagged and the other ie random events. The Jagged starts out with an empire that sucks up to much money they should start upgrading based on an economic stradegy including building the economic super projects since they start off with all the techs there should be a lot of these talk about sweatening the pot for invasion in the end more wonders The other Ai's should be mad and want their planets back either by considering buffer stradegy or going for the best planets finding out either by espionage or going after the planets with the highest Pq this is probably time to start researching planetary invasion unless your the Korath then U can make spore ships I think this will make for a better random event

michael, please take some time and alter that post into seperate ideas and multiple paragraphs and refrain from using walls of text, its rather annoying.

or give a TL/DR at the end.

I am curious, is the player the crusaders or trying to stop the crusade? I like many others (atleast the youtubers commenting on the trailer I was email) am hoping to actually play crusader with a long term goal instead of a choice of people who just want to kill everything or people who like the status quo. I know I must sound like I know nothing of this game, and that's probably cause I don't.

From the GalCiv 3 Features list:

"The Campaign
Galactic Civilizations III will come with a story-driven campaign that introduces players to the game’s setting. In the first campaign for Galactic Civilizations III, the player commands a powerful Terran armada that has just returned from a pocket universe to discover that the Drengin Empire is now firmly in control of the galaxy. It is up to the player to liberate the galaxy from Drengin oppression."

In other words, yes, we are going on a crusade. }:)

Sounds great. Became a founder, simply because I spend so much time playing GalCIV II.

Taking back the Galaxy from the Drengin will be fun.

If we are looking at changes to the game based on the way GalCiv II works, then I'm with Vogar on making the science/industry not as easily exchanged. I'm not sure what would be appropriate, but being able to use my universities to punch out production line amounts of ships seems less plausible. Or using my factories for advanced research...

Perhaps you could limit the absolute numbers produced when using opposite modes (e.g. a university production team might work fine for 1 or 2 prototype ships, but not much beyond that)

Now. I'll have to go play some more and see what else would be nice to tweak. In general, an updated version with a few tweaks and some directed storyline would be a great place to start.

Oh boy, That's plenty reason to go elite once I save up the money. Ever since I read a fanfic called Transcendent humanity, I have been wanting to play as a strong humanity. Also to moralize with the justifications of calling such a crusade instead of turning them all into generic race of villains. Oh I am happy about this.

2013 is a good year for space fans! From Planetary Resources getting more media notice, Star Citizen's development, November's release of X: Rebirth, and now a new Galactic Civilizations game?! What a fantastic year so far!

You get a shiny badge under your name on the forums.  What more do you want?

Actually, it says it will notify you of a key for Steam download when the game is ready.  Now, we have to pretend to be patient.  Some of us will do that less successfully than others.
