Guess I need some help with menu borders

I've been trying to figure all this out on my own for several days, so I guess I need some help now cause I'm at a total loss :'(   overall things are going fairly well! I've managed to work out most of the things I want to do.  My menus look like this, there's no problems, is just how I want them.

My Favorites menu tho has this white border I can't seem to get rid of.

and then some other windows menus like in photoshop and my text editor and the popup menus on objectdock have this white border too but also they have this white separator.

I love figuring things out on my own! and I've searched and looked at tutorials and guides...  this doesn't seem to be covered anywhere, hoping somebody might take the time to give me a few clues.

Thanks!

Unfortunately the only way to fix this is to use a full image with no transparent areas or shadow. Create your image and then in in your menu area Extra Settings, make sure your setting for Hide menu shadows is disabled. The problem you are having occurs in Internet Explorer for sure, and although pointed out to Stardock in the past, it has not been fixed to date. Ii should also resolve your Photoshop menu issue.

I use the same menu image for the start menu popup menu, right click (system) menus, and favorites menu, makes things a lot easier.  Then in your Colors area set the menu background color to be the same as the color in your menu image, and set your menu highlight to your preference. I usually set my menu bar color to the same also.

Hope this helps.

I would love to contribute :)  I know photoshop better than just about anything I do, the challenge at this point right now is figuring out skinstudio LOL  and after intermittent power failures here on the oregon coast I've not been able to get much done (sigh)

anyhow...

I really thought your clue would have set things right here...  but for some reason I'm not getting it, I'm missing something.  The sub category of  Popup Menus>Background has the Extra Settings you mentioned and I can disable the shadows fine. But Favorites Menus>Background doesn't have the same Extra Settings.  I cannot see a way to do what you've suggested. Though I did try all day before the power failed LOL  I tried comparing to your ProjectZ Skin, but can't figure out anything from that either.  And it might be worth mentioning I thought I saw a borderless favorites menu once, on the first opening of it, but it's definitely white bordered now.

This could all be due to maybe something I've done wrong.  I have windows 7  should I be running WindowBlinds 7 or WindowBlinds 8?  Stardock says WindowBlinds 8 is Win7 compatible, but now I'm starting to wonder.

No need to wonder. WB 8 works fine with all WB 7 skins and so does the latest version of skinstudio work fine with win7.

If you use the exact same image for the menu and favorites background with no transparency, just like a 40 x 40 square with maybe a 1 pixel border around the outside of a different color or shade, and do not disable menu shadows in extra settings, everything should work out. There are no extra settings for the favorites menu, you are correct. Don't forget setting your paint margins the same for both images also.

Windowblinds 8 works just fine on Windows 7, been using it here with no problems. SkinStudio 8 works on it also, although there are some oddities and glitches that I hope Stardock is working on. There are workarounds though.

It should also be mentioned that the menus in PS CS3 and lower are controlled by the change colors section in Skinstudio.

From the dropdown select: Show me the skin defined system colors. If memory serves, the ones to change are: Menu for the background, Button shadow and Button highlight for the separators, and Menu Highlight for mouseover color.

thanks guys, I really appreciate the help :)  as far as the favorites menu goes, yeah, I've tried everything you've mentioned LightStar, it will not work for me no matter what I do, tried everything you suggested, both ways, upside down and sideways.  I wonder if your own ProjectZ skin shows a white border on your computer like mine does?

Thanks 2of3 that did the trick for me :)  my version is cs3 so that's all fixed up now :D

anyhow, no worries on the favorites menu, I think I'm moving on from that, I actually use firefox anyhow but was thinking it was linked to other menus,  now that it seems to be the only menu left I think I can move on :)
