I think the Westboro Baptist folks may be capable of the same type of thing under the right circumstances.

Fact of the matter is there are nut cases in every religion. I have known some Muslim people who are very nice, loving people. I have also known a nice grandmother-type Church of Christ lady here in Tennessee--sweet lady who says that Hitler was right to kill 6,000,000 Jews.

It is unfortunate that too many people tend to group certain religions as a whole for the actions of specific militant groups.

Maybe you should look more closely to see what the big picture really is.  I bet if the US had the same per capita GDP as Somalia there would be an awful lot of militant Christians. It's very difficult to justify "raising arms" when you're reclining comfortably in your Lazy Boy using a remote to channel surf between stations showing you just how good you have it. Maybe that is why reality is very different from how certain things "seem" to many.

You should have said the U.S. Govt. as opposed to Americans. I honestly don't think most Americans really know what is going on behind the scenes.  It's fairly obvious that the islamophobes within the blogospere don't.

Anyone remotely familiar with the Qu'ran knows that in the vast majority of it, killing is forbidden. Islam itself IS a peaceful religion. Consider this - there are 2 BILLION muslims in the world. Given that, this is a tiny tiny fraction, a extreme minority causing these issues.

Central doctrines of Islam are helping others, not charging interest (usury) and a respect for all living things. Did you know there are countless stories of US soldiers taken in by Afghans at the risk of their lives? When asked why - they all claim that their religion mandates that all strangers be treated with respect, and given help. Christians have murdered millions of people over the centuries. 

If you ask me, all religions are a demonic deception. God can't be contained by religion, and I believe religions were created to divide people, not unite. But you can't blame Islam for the acts of a few, all religions are guilty of this  nonsense.

99.999% of all muslims aren't radicalized, just like 99.999% of Christians aren't radicalized. Simple logic really.. With 2 billion people - if this religion was about killing we would be IN BIG TROUBLE.

Be nice if the 99.999% gave a shit what the .001% were doing in the name of their religion.  You can't deny that the .001% have pretty much cornered the market in the senseless slaughter of innocents, both Muslim & non-Muslim.

I'm unaware of a Christian equivalent (sorry, you can't 'balance the scale' with the Crusades - just doesn't wash).

Who's trying to balance the scales other than you?  This is about political groups using the guise of religion to recruit and appease others in order to forward their political agendas.  What don't you understand about that? This is something that has polluted civilization throughout history.  Do you really expect political groups to recruit under the guise of a religion that isn't the dominant one in that country?

The truth is the Qur'an calls for killing disbelievers and infidels.

Kill the disbelievers whenever we find them. Sura 2:191

Be ruthless to the infidels. Sura 48:29

Make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Sura 9:123; 66:9.

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day. Sura 9:29

Strike off the heads of infidels in battle. Sura 47:4.

Mohammed forced his followers to continue believing saying in the Hadith al-Bukhari Vol 9, BK. 84, no. 57, Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him. I've also seen it as ....If someone stops believing in Allah, kill him. al-Bukhari 9:84:57.

 

Mohammed killed an estimated 3,000 people including cutting off the heads of 700 Jews in Medina.

When you meet the infidel in the battlefield strike off their heads. Sura 47:4

Mohammad is Allah's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the infidels. Sura 48:29 

No Muslim should be killed for killing an infidel. al-Bukhari 1:3:111.

Just before the Kenyan massacre the violent jihadist Muslims were killing Christians in a beautiful little Syrian village of Ma'loula.
