Windows 8 I've tried about everything

New computer.  Disks gone.

Installed through Impulse, Game Stop, and now bought it from Steam.  GALCIV II Complete.

Only one game works, TA,

DA does not work.  It crashes after you've picked your players,

Galciv2 also does not work for the same reason.

Does Stardock ever respond.

Tried to buy Start 8,  No email for that either.

If you are not getting e-mails then it sounds like your ISP or your e-mail client is deleting them.  I recommend checking your junk folder.

If you purchased Start8 via the Stardock store then you should have created an account (or used your current one), in which case you should be able to download Start8 from the MyDownloads section or the store, or by using the trial and using the unlock option and using your account details.

Having checked the system requirements for Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition on Steam I notice it says :

Operating system: Windows® XP SP3 / Vista™ SP2 / Windows® 7

It may be this has not been updated since 8 came out, or it may well be those games do not work on Windows 8.  They were certainly designed long before Windows 8 even existed.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.
