Control-P Cheat isnt working

I've played GC2 for a long time. Never did upgrade to the later games. Recently i learned you could upgrade your planets with Control-P. I thought this was awesome, always wanted to do something like that. Only to find out that it doesn't upgrade the tiles when you do this. It shows that the planet is higher quality but it wont put more tiles. What am I doing wrong? Can someone help please? Thank you.

It adds tiles to originally class 0 planets.

using it on class 1+ does nothing but raise the visual number(And change the texture after a quick-save/start), not theactual tiles.

It only works on planets you haven't colonized yet.

Ive tried using it on 0 planets as well, I can colonize the planet but it has no tiles. Also, ive upgraded the tiles before and after colonization it never seems to add tiles. Ive even upgraded the planets then saved it and restarted the game.

That is strange. I just tested it again (in both DL and TotA) and it worked fine. The only difference is that the keys are CTRL+SHIFT+N in TotA.

Just to clarify, you have to select to planet you want to upgrade, and each time you press the keys, it increases the PQ by 1. So, if you want to increase the PQ to 10, you have to press the keys 10 times.

Yeah i tried it again. I started a new game, upgraded my 4 planet to 20. Saved and restarted my saved game. It still doesnt have any extra tiles.

AFAIK that does nothing, because the cheat adds tiles for me.

Perhaps this is Stardock trolling us?

LoL perhaps, guess it is just something wrong with my game specifically. It works for alot of other people soooo, i dont know why it isnt. ive tried 0 planets, habitable planets, ive increased the planet before ive colonized it and after. Ive saved the game and not saved the game. Ive even saw one guy say if it doesnt work, destroy the colony and try again but that never works. *Sighs* The idea of have just the two planets of my solar system to start, and not exploring letting the comp have all the planets was an awesome idea i wanted to try. Guess it isnt happening. Thanks for all the help, if you have other ideas let me know.

Okay, this is the last idea I have.

After selecting it, keep the mouse-cursor on the planet, so you see the tooltip with the name and class. After pressing the keys, you should see the number for the class increase. So, if it said Class 0 before, it should say Class 1 after pressing the keys one time.

Also, make sure you are using the correct keys. CTRL+P only work in DL and, I think, DA. If you are playing TotA, the keys are CTRL+SHIFT+N.

Unless it is the ultimate edition, in which case it is still CTRL+P

No, it isn't. Unless you got an extremely outdated version (pre-2.00), CTRL+P got changed to be the hot key for the Planetary Governer.

P - Adds 1 to planet class — does not add terraformed squares to colonized planets; instead, destroy the colony, run , re-colonize. Note that the game caps the planet class at 36 instead of the expected 26 when it is increased in this manner. (Ctrl + Shift + N on Twilight, EXCEPT Ultimate Edition)

I have the UE and it simply isn't true. Whoever made that edit is wrong.

CTRL P works for me though, perhaps it is just you?

What version are you playing? The current one is 2.04.

That is... strange. o_O

In v2.0, Stardock made this change:

+ Hotkey for bringing up the planetary governor popup for a selected planet (ctrl+P).

Due to this, the cheat key got changed to CTRL+SHIFT+N. This was the case for both the regular edition of TotA, which I was using back then, and the UE.

It doesn't make any sense for one version of the UE to keep using the old cheat key, while another version uses the new cheat key. Especially so, if the old cheat key is also used as a hot key. There never was any overlap between cheat keys and hot keys, because one could prevent the other from working.
