Windowed "Sidebar" Apps?

Not sure if I've got the right terminology.

Most apps in Win8 have a "siderbar" mode where you can drag them to the side and they take up a portion of the screen and alters the interface to suit.  Is there a way to get this version of the app into a windowed mode?  This would be useful for things like Twitter or IM apps rather than having them in a large window or trying to squeeze the large interface into a smaller window.

Does this feature currently exist?

I realize this is an old post.  Not sure what you are trying to accomplish - why not just press "F10" on both apps (to make them entered Windowed mode) then drag them into the appropriate position? This is how you probably did things prior to Windows 8/

Not quite.

Certain apps like Twitter and such have a "sidebar" mode where they not just reduce the footprint of the app but change the interface entirely.

Here's an example:

I would like to take this interface and make it windowed.  Currently I cannot find a way to do this.
