VASARI REBEL Starting (Multi)
Multiplayer
Whats a good starting strategy? I always seem to have no money while the advent guy shows up with 20+ illums....tips?

PvP or AI?
VR start is probably same as VL start...
I see 2 strands of strategies with Vasari...one is to try Orky rushing, which either means you are putting an Orky on a key choke point or you are trying to place it on an enemy world (that's either a choke point or their HW)...this strategy is risking but the payoff can be huge...best lead for this strategy is either jarrasul or skirantra, though jarrasul is probably the preferred lead these days...typical fleets consist of pure corvettes...
The other strategy is to play more conventionally and not rely on Orkies....you can do LF spam, though lots of players going this route prefer kanraks and sentinels...
Exactly that, except you should never attempt to sb enemys homeworld with the first Orky. Try to take a key dwarf/roid first under pretty much any circumstances. I have seen a lot of players do LF spam recently but im not a great vasari player so cant comment on that, but looked pretty effective. They also have that cheap heal thing dont they.
Apparently every faction is LF spam. Vasari is that exception though.
Yep, double factory "AI" fix made for a less diverse openings from pretty much all factions. I think im going to have to start a movement to begin with a Revelation/Corsev opening!
Corsev opening is still a thing? Back when Corvettes were this overpowering unit, the Corsev was literally the best starting capital on the frontline since it heals from your Corvette spam dying. While at the same time deals shit tons of AOE damage against theirs.
Doesn't hurt to throw a spare migrator at their HW if you happen to have one...even if you don't intend on deploying there, the enemy may not know that and may do something stupid trying to kill it...
If number of jumps between your hw and his hw > 3/4 you can try faking it with a spare migrator and kite him around his system, while sbing the planet you are after. If the hws are close then egg + migrator at nearest dwarf/roid is uncounterable by advent. I have tested it with grimm and it succeeds 100% of the time. Although that was before 1.50 was released.
Well my biggest problem is ECO sucks balls. Even if I get a jump on them they show up minutes later with liek double my fleet and wipe my orky or fly by it. LF spam? Is that the Missle frigates?>
best resource and population economy in the early game that amplifies when you culture a world.

I am still of the opinion Vasari in general has inadvertently been nerfed in the LF area compared to other factions; see my thread for my gripes.
With that said I still haven't given up on my favorite faction and continue to use them in multiplayer games. You've probably already answered your own question now and that is, how is your early game eco? Since the patch, now everyone starts off with 2 frigate factories which should allow you to crank out the skirmishers reasonably fast, although certainly not as fast as the other 2 factions. What cap ship do you use to start? What is usually your first, second and third research tech among all techs available?
We have to remember how feed can distort a race's economy in multiplayer. advent can easily get 42 desciples with 2 colonies and hit 65+ with 4 colonies after development costs and that's without feed.
