[eMod] Several new random map settings

(more snaky and hopefully less entrances for AI)

So I made some new random map settings, since the vanilla ones end up being mostly all out massive Pangaeas with entrances everywhere making strategic options limited. This mod adds more water to your maps, making it consist of more chokepoints and secluded areas.

This file contains new random map settings for all sizes as well as adding Gigantic. (Not supported by Stardock, but I've played through it a couple of times)

(copy into your Documents/My Games/LegendaryHeroes/Mods folder and activate mods in menu)

Link has an error:

This page contains the following errors:

Is this on Dropbox's end?

It's cause you run the .xml file in the browser... dunno how to make you "save" it with left click.

Just right click it, and "Save As" etc. and it should work.

Edit: Added a zip file if you want to extract it instead.

It works on my computer, but it's not supported by Stardock, so it can be unstable dependant on your Computer. (you will get a message about it not being supported) Just try it and say if you have any troubles with it. ;)

out of curiosity, are you expanding this mod to include the Small and Normal map sizes aswell?

(ported into smaller maps, but needs testing to see if they work, I just scaled down other maps on the 3rd file, give feedback if it works or not ;)

I slightly enlarged them and made "sea" level at 55%+, it should work, but not necessarily, so I need feedback on it if you test "Large maps" and below. Look at the XML file, and tweak the values if possible, my values are just a suggestion not necessarily perfect ;)

It's easy to tweak the files to get that "perfect" level, so just experiment and get back to me. Hopefully the XML file should be easy to edit and test, so if you get a better one, PM me, and I will update ^^

I tweaked all map sizes, get me some feedback how it works now ;)

Have been running on medium maps. Wow. What a difference! No longer can I expect to know when the edge of the world cometh...

I am curious: Is there a way for it to be coded in such that player 1 always starts near the middle of a map ??

I don't think so. There are no settings in the random generator for that currently, and I doubt Stardock will implement it. CTRL-N spam is probably the only way ;)

Been playing on huge, like it.  Thanks.

This is a great mod, exploring the world is even more fun.

Agreed. I've had quite the variation from map to map, all on medium setting. Fantastic mod!!!! A must include!

So medium and irregular is a hit? Thanks guys ^^

Anyone tried the small and tiny versions? They should be the most problematic ones to get going properly. If they just take up space I can remove them so you don't have to click through them at start.

I recommend leaving them in. Doesn't take much to cycle through and may probably as stable as the other sizes.

I'll commit to trying them out....one day.

I tried Large irregular, medium irregular. Both worked very well.

Wow I never knew this existed. I guess I should give it a spin for my next game.

sjaminei has give me the o.k. to do the changes proposed in reply #17 so I've done so in XtraDeconstruct... Obviously, credits goes to sjaminei for this, but users who want to test the new version can now do so without having to modify the .xml themselves.
