Any way to remove a unit ability?

I'm trying to add a new spell called "tainted blood" that would change the racial characteristics of a recruited champion. I can add the new blood type to a unit without any problem, but I'm not sure if it's possible to remove the old one. Is there any game modifier that will do this?

I think you'd have to create a new race to remove the racial trait.

No, there is no practical way to remove an old bloodline. There are two ways to effectively remove a trait in theory:

1) The trait is an injury, and can be removed alongside any other injury.

2) The trait has an upgrade that is identical to the first one but in inverse, countering any effect you gained from the first one (+1 hp / -1 hp).

Neither method can be applied in practice to something like this. The second method is not applicable because we don't know which one the first is (could be any bloodline).

My suggestion: just keep the old bloodline on the unit. It's not going to dramatically upset the balance or immersion.

Oh well. I've kept the old bloodline and in the end it actually improves the differentiation between Champions. Originally I wanted Moves=1 for tainted heroes, which didn't work with Mancer blood, but then I found that Moves = 1 creates under-leveled heroes anyway, which negates the bonus from tainting your hero in the first place. Game design is fun.
