False alarm, not a bug

Edit: found out to be a false alarm and not a bug after all.

Original post:

I think this is an old bug, as I remember I had this issue in previous builds, but still worth mentioning: I'm playing a huge map, clearing out the AI one by one, when suddenly I can't build any orbital structures in the conquered planets. The construction ships cruise to the build location and then either the build bar doesn't move at all, or the construction ships just leave the orbital building halfway built, refuse to keep building it even when directed to it manually and the whole thing grinds to a halt, nothing is being built by my constructors (starbases build up just fine).

Currently, I'm playing as Vasari Loyalists and researched hastened building speed for orbital structures. Would love to provide further detail and a savegame, although I'm not sure where is it located, even checked the appdata\local and there's no Ironclad or Sins directory there. I'm on Win 8 64 bit.

Rebellion relocated the user directory to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion

Saves and mods are stored in subdirectories of that path.

This may or may not be a bug...let's assume it's not for now...

This can occur sometimes when you queue a building or ship, then lose the labs necessary to perform that construction...you will need to rebuild the necessary labs to "reactivate" the technology...note that I think kostura shots and the Vasari shield ability (on civilian structures) disable structure functionality, so any labs affected by either of those things will not contribute towards prereq requirements until the buff affecting those structures times out....

Since you are VL, you also have the technologies that make your capital ships count as research labs...if you are depending on those and you lose them, this is equivalent to losing labs and you will encounter the same problem...

Another possibility for you is that you queued up the planetary infrastructure that increases logistic slots, then queued up the construction of structures...the structures cannot be built until the planetary infrastructure is finished....basically, the game knows you will have the slots, but you don't technically have them yet so constructors sit there and wait...

Quoting Seleuceia, reply 3

This may or may not be a bug...

...stuff...

Gormoth1, can you confirm what Seleuceia has said is true? I've ran into this issue when building Kostura Cannons if the planetary upgrades have not yet finished (or get canceled).

Seleuceia, it seems you nailed it on your second guess - I queued up logistic slots on the conquered planets and started building media hubs to negate the enemy's culture and halfway through, I foolishly seem to have changed my mind, un-queued the logistic slots and queued up different planetary slots, instead, on 2 different newly conquered planets which caused the constructors to leave the media hubs halfway built and refuse to keep building them on both of these planets. Due to the fact that I did this on 2 different planets I thought this was a sweeping issue.

After queuing the logistics slots again and waiting for the planets to finish researching them, the media hubs were built as planned.

Doh! X|

Sorry:blush:

The weird thing is that this seem to have happened to me before, I need some way to keep track of my expanding empire during the mop-up phase. Perhaps some more feedback from the game (lacking logistics/tactical slots, etc) might help, but that's a really of the lowest priority.

Thanks, Seleuceia!

i suggest changing this threads title, putting in "false alarm" or something :)

Good idea, done :)
