Any chance you could keep an eye on centering the hud..? Consider my Eyefinity res' 5760x1200 on 27" monitors, wich makes the current HUD 6 feet apart. :( The game looks decent and plays fine but my neck quit workin over time. I don't see much of the date out there unless I have to and I miss quite a bit.

:omg:

Sit further away? ;P

For alpha: the HUD on the main game window will most likely be getting wider, so that the army management pop-up is centered.  Next release - it will almost certainly be centered.

heh.. Sitting further away deffeats the purpose as I currently see nothing outside of FE or any game for that matter. Part of your hud is center'd fine. Oracle icon and unit list would need "+1920" and anything on the right would need "-1920". Seems simple enough but how would you tell if user needed it? ..and if so how much? Its not common but there are portrait variations and 5 screen portrait.

percent based / relative positioning / sizing

(no plans for any specific resolutions)

Are you going to fix the attack tooltips (they seem to stack on top of each other)? Also you don't use faction power in your screenshots but with it enabled it's a bit wonky, might want to move it up a bit so it doesn't look like this: http://i.imgur.com/mg5FAbS.png

other than those two small things I think it looks great. The battle screen improvements are fantastic because it's so hard to see active units in native.

TLDR: this will be addressed in the next update.

The main aim of this mod (if it's not already apparent), is to streamline the game-play experience and flow of a turn.  It's actually quite difficult for me to get sucked into the game using the standard GUI, as it constantly draws my attention all over the screen... it works OK in small resolutions, but the default UI's design feels more akin to a data management application than a game.  It just doesn't foster the psychology of a "sovereign" for me.  Given that this is a turn-based game, and the design goal is "just one more turn", I should feel very inclined to click that Turn button, but instead I ALWAYS feel that there is something I forgot (to click first).  Most of the time I actually didn't, but the very feeling that I did turns me off immensely.  It's a feeling I associate with work.  I believe this is simply because there actually IS ALWAYS something to do - in every corner of the view-port: all of the main game-play elements are relegated to the extremeties of the screen.  Instead of centering the psychology of a "sovereign" (or whatever is currently selected), the standard user interface follows traditional application schematics; which attempt to maximize monitor real-estate.  This also has the effect of generating a modern, or even futuristic air.  Sometimes I feel like I am playing GalCivIII, and FE/LH is just the "old period".  A game's  graphical user interface should focus on fostering a certain psychology, and presenting data as such, function regardless of resolution.
This mod actually started as a personal refinement of the user interface for FE, in which I made even less use of the faction power window than I do now.  Personally I would just like a link to the Foreign Relations window.

I had a major change release half-way ready that addressed this, but ran into some insurmountable bugs/hurdles that I couldn't iron out.  My plans altered slightly, I should have a less major update available soon.  I will continue practicing the spell "25th hour" as well, (the RL game is quite demanding atm).

Quick question, what program are you using to unpack the dxpack files? Desktop X?

@LightofAbraxis: yes

@qwdqq3f: the update I'm packaging now should work in resolutions as small as 1440 pixels wide (definitely 1680).

Apologies for the delay, I've actually had this next update ready for a couple days now; what little free time I've had has been sucked into the game Aquaria (how did I miss this one?, it's absolutely beautiful).

Teaser, the GUI will be available in 11 "faction flavors":

Shown is "Tan of the Kingdoms";

aside from the default GUI, the other color schemes will be "Altarian Red", "Capitarian Violet", "Gildenian Gold", "Kraxisian Orange", "Magnarian Mauve", "Paridenian Blue", "Tarthian Green", "Umberian Brown", and "Yithrilian Gray".

Just need to take a couple more screenshots...

Thanks again for the feedback.

Where is map on strategic view?

I find the mini-map basically just negates one of my favorite X's - exploration.  Without it, the "edge of the map" (and your relation to it), must be discovered.*

For practically all functionality that the mini-map provided, I just flick my mouse wheel back.

However, I will be making an optional patch for those that prefer it.

Also, faction power table show only one faction.

^This will be addressed in the next update.

Additional note, for those that aren't aware: Clicking the Fame icon brings up the Kingdom window in the same manner as the (removed) Govern button.

*Edit: to really enhance and support this effect, set the FOW Brightness to 0 under Advanced Options.

Is this still being updated?

It works fine with the latest version of LH (I can't play without it), although there is a bug with the Faction Power window (which I don't use).  I was working on a major update, but unfortunately the HD I was working on is sitting here on the left side of my desk waiting for me to mail it in for data recovery from a head crash.  I was also waiting to find out what SD was planning for the UI before continuing, but it looks like nothing.  When I get some time I will see what I can do about the Faction Power window, and also make an optional patch for those that want the mini-map back.  I am extremely busy at the moment though so I don't foresee a major update coming for a bit.  In summary, yes, slowly but surely this is still being updated.  Thanks for bumping the thread so I could notice that all the image links were broken and fix them.
