Planet specialization versus trade ports question.
Greetings.
I'm curious if the planet specializations is a decent option to building a lot of trade ports. I find it annoying to have to build a lot of them to get a good economy.

Which, ironically, is what the Vasari Loyalists are doing. They are piling up resources and practicing a scorched earth policy against whatever is chasing them. In Lore that is.
In Game I would just do it for the LULZ ![]()
The value of 40 you were given, which is also the value the game's wiki states, appears to be too high. A 100% allegiance planet with 80 pop produces 2.3/s (~35 pop/credit), and one with 40 has a rounded-down displayed value of 1.1/s, ~36 pop/credit . Homeworld's 480 pop @ 110% allegiance produces 19.8 creds/s, which gives us a value of ~33 pop/credit. Enemy homeworld's 100 pop @ 40% allegiance yields 1.1/s, which suggests a value of ~36 pop/credit. Looks like it's closer to 35, as a rule-of-thumb.
you should mention on what income speed level? not everyone plays on the same settings
This is on normal speed, the default.
I know it's default but from the start I've played on fast speed for years, and recently on fastest, and all numbers are changed on these levels. So maybe there are people who don't know this goes for normal speed, so better to make it clear.

At normal, your capital starts off at 12.6.
((12.6/1.15) -4)/280=.0248
Allowing for the inaccuracy of the display(it's rounded) this equation bears out with the values.
Income is population times the tax rate, multiplied by 1 plus the scaler. 40 population is 1 credit of income, but it's at slow, not normal.
