Computer glasses really work

My office has a lot of light in it. It’s one of those catch-22, people want windowed offices but the light can be very distracting.  Rather than constantly fighting with my blinds, I decided to try some computer glasses.

This is what I picked:

Gunnar Optiks G0005-C001

I can’t say enough good things about these. Not only do they let me work in a well sunlit room in comfort but they make working on my Cintiq a joy since I don’t feel like I have a flash light in my face.

I've often wondered how well these things work. Have you found it's reduced eye strain?

Wish they didn't have to be tinted to be effective.

I remember a thread about flicker (ICD now eliminates this) and backlighting...I recommended these glasses. Alternatively, the program described here: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/06/01/warm-light-app-f-lux-3-beta-introduces-movie-mode/ might also help. It changes screen brightness per time of day.

You can get anti-glare coatings without a tint (if you need glasses just to work at a computer, for example).  I imagine the tint is to deal with bright light sources like sunlight.
