Q: More touch, but no Start button? Is Windows 8.1 the right move?

So, people are more often saying no. Will that matter in the long run? No, if only because Windows will continue to be the dominant OS for some time. However, MS is doing its best to kill the desktop and push people into using iOS. Keep it up, and Windows will die.

All this because MS is letting the desktop pc die.

The consumers will keep the desktop pc alive.  Well that's my feeling.

Linux just may be able to gain some ground now.    :-"

Or Apple will gain more ground as well.

The desktop is still there, and where most people do all their work.  People make too much of the Metro interface.
