that, and the script writing, the original was british, but 'that' channel seems to be american't so they will probably want to bugger around with the scripts to dumb it down far enough for american'ts(and what they think the rest of the world is like) to 'get' it.

If it's an American remake of a British classic it'll be a total failure....there has never been anything that wasn't.

I can see the promo...

" First she was a baby-eating Dinko....

...then she was that Pommie bitch-with-balls....

....now.... Meryl Streep is THE uber-bitch from space....Servalan.".....;p

Hmmm......seems fraught with danger...     :\

They really need to get Avon right too....

Some years ago I rented the series and watched with my son and his mates as I always talked of it fondly in any sci fi discussions....even though they over rushed the end and spoilt it....  and the younger gen enjoyed it too... Sometimes best to leave well enough alone... He'd better do better than Casino Royale....dead boring...

The US version of The Office was nowhere near the British one....didn't seem to work at all.   :-|

Think I'd just rather them write something new...

though, for downright trippy....you have to see the Middle Eastern version of The Nanny.... There isn't a joke in it...but the canned laughter is going wild... Weirdest thing.....    8|

Dayna: Don't you get tired of always being right?

Avon: No, just with the rest of you always being wrong...

Cally: My people have a saying, "a man who trusts can never be betrayed only mistaken"

Avon: Life expectancy must be short among your people...

Some classic dialogue and characters throughout B7 - you're never going to replace that.

Some people here in the US don't understand others sci-fi, the non american type. They look for stereotypes. I loved watching Dr.Who but never had the chance to see Blake's 7, not entirely. Somewhere along the line the essence goes missing in a remake. I want to see the originals.

B7 was created by Terry Nation who was also very involved with Doctor Who. Blake's 7 had very good stories and even better characters. Avon and Servalan are the kind of characters that you will never forget. For me I can trace back many ideas and concepts that I have to elements of the show. The Liberator, Zen, Orac and the other characters are iconic in many ways.

The more I think about it the more likely the remake is going to be a complete disaster and disappointment. If the Americans couldn't keep Firefly running then they have a snow flakes chance in hell of creating Blake's 7 in such a way that it will get the ratings and please the original fans.

I don't think Red Dwarf has ever been shown in the US Syd, at least not that I have ever heard of. I don't remember ever seeing Blakes7 here either. Only Dr Who has come over here I think, and as far as I can find out, it is not very popular.

If I remember correctly Red Dwarf, a long time ago, aired for maybe one or two episodes but after that it seemed to have vanished. Firefly I wanted to see because a lot of people I talked to who have seen it said it was great. I was so pissed when it was canceled. It reminded me of all the hoopla over the original Star Trek. The older generation, my dad's, couldn't seem to wrap their heads around it. You'd think it was too cerebral for them. lol

from what I (as an 'old fart original series trek 'fan'') remember about red dwarf was that it was trying to be  scifi comedy show. and yes it was moderate fun.
