[Bug][0.51] Forge of the Overlord!

This -9 diplomacy hit is being triggered by Tower of the Witch, or perhaps any of the lesser towers, rather than the Forge itself. Causing everyone to go to war with each other by mid-game with pretty much no chance for peace, even in games with spell of making victory turned off.

Nope, just Tower of the Witch. I built the Forge of the Overlord then destroyed my Tower of the Witch and everyone stopped hating me. They still hate each other though because they pretty much all build the three towers eventually.

What if each tower gave you a -2 while the forge of the overlord worth -4 or something?  Then your opponents would slowly get more nervous as you advanced.

I still want this to be disabled when you turn off spell of making victory, no reason you should take a diplomacy hit.

While on the subject, does anyone else think spell of making is too early in the tech tree?  Sometimes I feel like the game is just getting going when I can end it.  What if towers had to be build one at a time?

I dunno, I never play with spell of making victory on, I have never been a fan of tech victories in these games, ever. I understand why the -9 is there, if you are close to the SoM the AIs should be aware and try to stop you, but ya it's totally broken right now because they all build the tower of the witch and they all go to war with each other because of it. I changed it in my files to be a +1 instead of a -9, I figure if they do fix it the forge would act as sort of a power symbol without the threat of the SoM.

I actually think I reported this bug shortly after FE came out though, or maybe I at least noticed it but didn't realize how big an issue it was until I saw how quickly the other AIs get their towers up with the new UI element. I know this is the second time I've had to mod a fix for it on my end.

I always play with SoM victory disabled. Could you please explain to me how to make this change? I never really looked into the XML files.

I concur with the diplomacy change for each tower and that it should be gone when spell of making is disabled as a victory option.

In your game folder under data/english (or whatever language I suppose) there's a file called CoreAIDefs.xml. Copy that and paste it into your documents/my games/LegendaryHeroes/mods folder, then open it up and find the line "<AIRelationsWeight InternalName="ForgeOfTheOverlord">" under it will be a "weight" value set at -9, just change that to whatever you want. Then make sure mods are turned on in your game options. Alternatively you can just edit the original file and it will work without turning mods on, but make sure you make a backup first.

In FFH2 there's a common random city event where people accuse a girl of being a witch and if you have her killed you get a temporary happiness boost. That's what popped into my head when I read ElanaAhova's post.

I also confirm the bug on the Tower of the Witch. I'm happy it's a bug, I though it was a intentional permanent -9 if you even think of building the Forge.

+1 to the idea of having negatives on each tower as they are built.

+1 to the idea of moving the spell of making much later in the tech tree. It is way too early, and spoils the game if you allow it as a victory condition.
