Windowblinds & Skinstudio for Android would make someone rich

I see a BIG Market for that now

Finally Got my Android Phone & saw "Themes/Skins" for it on the AppMarket....

That could be one of the biggest things creating Windowblinds & Skinstudio for Android  OS.

-Any input/thoughts on this ? Neil Banfield, Spencer ? Community crew ? :sun:

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and I would love an easy way to skin it like Windowblinds.

I used GO Launcher EX for a long time, untill I spotted a great deal on GO DEV Teams new 'toy', Next Launcher.
Bought it and never looked back....

Just as WB does to Windows, Next Launcher brings a whole new life to Android. =)

You be better off creating an app for it if it uses them...some young kid just sold an app he created to Apple for 30 million. :O

What I am saying is Windowblinds for Android would be revolutionary as you would apply "foolproof" themes with it and the Themes/skins applied with it are in fact same as an "app".

Making Theme-Apps made easy if you wish :star:

-Don´t read this too the tee, try to see what I´m getting at here.

it was Yahoo and they were not really interested in the app, but in the semantics algorithm it uses. the app of course helped promoting his skills. (Google stopping Google Reader might have helped even more).

on topic: there seems to be a market. then install numbers of the first link sure are impressive, even if they were inflated by updates (don't know how the Google Play does that).

would require developer(s) with Android skills and good quality control with all the versions of Android and the multitude of available devices.

WindowBlinds gets updated once & a while so would it be with WBfor Android aswell I suppose, but for instance if you would make something for the latest Android it would be good enough and working for quite a few Android-updates and wouldn´t have to be updated for every Android update only the Big ones...

There are things like this LINK

But I think Windowblinds and Skinstudio for Android would be much more Userfriendly and innovative. |-)

assuming that you want more than just a launcher and also skin the apps that use the Android api, that is not a trivial task. Android version adaption is much slower than let's say for iOS. so you would need to support a multitude of old apis.

see here: http://bgr.com/2013/02/08/android-version-distribution-february-2013-316698/

do never expect that such a skinning app would work for newer versions of Android as well. Google is constantly improving it's api. what you currently see with WindowBlinds (no release for Windows 8 for months) is pretty much what killed Shapeshifter (OSX skinning application). luckily for Stardock their Windows 8 apps and Fences have quite a momentum right now.

I think this idea has been raised before... developing WB and Skinstudio for another platform... it may have been OS-X or Android, I'm not sure, but the response was along the lines of "most likely not".

Right now we're concentrating on Windows 8, Android really isn't on the table.

I know Spence, but maybe you agree it´s a good thought though considering the Quantity of eventual customers. :sun:

Some nice android themes for Next Launcher here - http://tsfshell.com
BEAUTIFUL

But -How did they skin it is what I´d like to know...?

I don´t think that there´s a skinning software out there like "Windowblinds" for Android so -HOW.

Probably Alot of coding and that´s why I made this post from the start |-)

I downloaded an SDK for GO Launcher EX some time last year to see what it took to make a theme - never really got around to it though (real-life kicked in) but from what I saw it would take a fair amount of (manual) coding.

I would think it would be the same deal with Next Launcher. =)
