Bought GalCiv2 Ultimate from Steam - How to play GalCiv2 or Dark Avatar Games on Metaverse?

I've already registered my serial number and created a Stardock account.

When starting the game via Steam or when starting Twilight of Arnor (GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe) directly, I can connect to the Metaverse.

However, when starting the GalCiv2 game (GalCiv2.exe) or Dark Avatar (GC2DarkAvatar.exe) directly, I get an error message that my serial number couldn't be found in the registry.

Is there a way to work around this or can I only play Twilight of Arnor games via the Metaverse?

You should be able to play any of the expansions with your Metaverse profile. It may be worth contacting tech support as I'm not sure that this forum is being that actively watched anymore.

The metaverse is, at its simplest, a high score board. It is not a multiplayer system.

Hi!

Ummm...is anyone still here?   :S

Can anyone tell me what steps I need to take to be awarded the cool "badges" I usually see displayed with a person's on-line persona when placing a forum post?

Also, is there anywhere I can go to see a list of badges available, what each signifies, and how to obtain it?

Thanks!   :)

Also...what is the difference between a regular Metaverse game and a Metaverse Tournament game?  ...As I see the Main Menue of GalCivIII UE gives me both options.

Can I earn "badges" by playing either kind of Metaverse game?

Lastly, once I finish a Metaverse game, is it automatically "posted" to the Metaverse...and are any appropriate badges earned automatically given to me?

Thanks!    :)

The tournaments were just an option to play with pre-defined game parameters, if I remember. Either type of game should work to give the badges on the GC2 forum, once you have created a metaverse character and submitted games. You should have a prompt to submit the game when you finish.

Metaverse logins appear to be down at the moment though, I've passed word along to get them sorted.

Thanks for your kind and quick response, Kryo.

Logins are down?  Is that why, when I try to login to the Metaverse, I keep getting messages stating things like a message that makes no sense has been received back (from the Metaverse)...and that my program (GalCivIIue) is no longer working and will be shut down?

I thought I wasn't able to login to the Metaverse because several days ago I changed my Stardock account user name...from doctorradon to Stratetacticus (I also changed my password); because "doctorradon" is still popping up in the "Error Message" screen when I try to logon to the Metaverse through GalCivIIue...even though my screen name (and password) were successfully changed on my Stardock account.

Ummm...shouldn't the game stop showing "doctorraddon" in error messages when I try to logon to the Metaverse from the game's main menue?  ...I don't know how to fix that...and I've been wondering if that might be why I can't logon to the Metaverse and start playing games to earn some cool badges.   :)

Thanks!

PS/  Are all the regular game options still available when playing a Metaverse-qualifying game?  Such as, can I still choose the galaxy size and how fast I'd like tech research to proceed?

Uhhh...why is a "Very Evil" badge now appearing below my post(s), LOL!  I haven't even been able to logon, play and submit a Metaverse game, yet...and in non-Metaverse games I've been choosing "Neutral"!  ...Sheesh, LOL.

The badges are given a value based on the games submitted to the Metaverse.  When you see Very Evil and Cakewalk badges on a player's profile, it just means that no games have been submitted yet.

It's no big deal though. The Metaverse has been pretty much dead for quite some time. The game is still as fun without it, maybe even more so.

I purchased Galciv II from Gamestop a few years ago (all 3 games were included). I wanted to look at the Metaverse but I don't know where the serial number is so I may register it.  I was able to register my boxed copy of Gal Civ II Dreadlords but it doesn't appear to work with my installed Gamestop purchase for the Metaverse.

Perhaps it is working (mostly?). From the opening game menu I was able to look at the tournaments leaderboards and games. My user name was there also.  The Metaverse still says no serial number was found in the registry and that I will not be able to submit a game until a I register a serial number.

I found the serial numbers.  Twighlight of the Arnor is the only part that says serial is not in registry. It still works with the tournaments selection. The Dread Lords and Dark Avatar ask for my login and take me to the Metaverse.
