Initial Impressions - It is really really good

I've only been playing for 20-30 minutes, but I'm really enjoying the new tactical battles. Having units start off close is definitely a good change.

I like the way heroes appear. I like have choice. I really really like the new skills trees.

I miss the map debris though. I know why it was removed, but I miss it.

Starting with a couple of units is a good change, helps pick up the pace early.

I usually play Peridon. I love their new ability. It costs a ton of mana, but it adds a lot of character to the race.

I like the new weapon special ability.

It seems like initial monsters lairs on default are REALLY strong. Around my city were 4 medium groups and 1 strong group. Ouch. I have mixed feeling about this. On the one hand I like that it is harder to clear lairs and you need to focus on spawned monsters at first. On the other hand... well actually I guess there really is no on the other hand. I just hope the AI can handle the new settings.

I enjoyed playing FE, I'm really super digging FE:LH. Overall, this is a major step in the right direction.  Good job Stardock!

Oh, and I haven't hit any bugs yet *cross fingers*

Haven't had a chance to play properly, but nice to see the startup disk-thrashing is gone with LH: The main menu appears almost instantly.

I agree However i've noticed a few bugs. For starters magnar has masterwork chainmail armor. When champions die there is no notification of the injury. And thirdly when juggernaughts use cleave there is no animation for the attack. There are some things that could be improved on as far as the game in concerned and that is axes and their availability. Sarog's Axe (SP?) is the only end game axe that exists in the game and i've never seen it drop. I would consider adding at least one more axe preferably one that is epic (purple). As it stands right now Verga is the only sovreign that can reliably use axes. As i've mentioned numerious times in the past the guillotene axe is lackluster (CRIT CHANCE? REALLY?) I'd replace it with something 33% Armor pen.

There are somethings that i love so far.

* SWARM!

* Improved graphics

* ability to upgrade troop size!

I'll leave more feedback tonight after i finish my game. Overall the game looks incredible if i would focus on anything i would focus on continued polish but i would add more quests and quest items (AXES AXES AXES) to the game to improve the questing aspects of the game because i feel at the moment the questing aspects of the game could be improved.

Was having fun until Resoln sued for peace and the game crashed:

The changes are great! I'll post more as I get more play time (played for about an hour so far)

Bugs found:

  1. Sounds for animations seem to echo or they're doubled up!
  2. Crash above (obviously)
  3. Will add more as I go!

Thusfar things look great (almost 2 hours in). I noticed the injury not showing bug too. It looks like the AI is having harder time to get going. On hard I used to have a hard time to keep up with the AI, but I'm quite easily ahead now.

Love:

- Swarm, Impale, Cleave. Tactical combat is so much better now!
- New city upgrades, growing your cities really pays off
- The new levelling system
- Fame seems really balanced thusfar

I take but what I said about the lairs. Since you start with the ability to make spearmen it isn't at all hard to get a medium power group and beat them. Strong lairs are still.. well strong.

Injuries are shown on the battle result screen.  If your used to the old screen you may not be noticing them and expecting an additional popup after the battle.

Auto selecting next unit after moving each doesn't appear to work correctly.

Can we *please* get an option to lock end turn when units have not all moved (or been placed to guard or whatever)?

Only bug so far that I ran into is in 1st battle, I had my mage sovereign, summoned warg and 2 starting units against 4 wolf packs. 2 packs spawned near my sovereign that was alone and 2 spawned next to other 3 units. The maps was some with huge shard in the middle of map. You should fix spawn points on this map, with no control over spawn positions people will lose ranged units on this map like crazy even with melee support in groups.

downloaded the beta when i came home from work, played for what seemed like 10 minutes, checked the played timer and realized that actually 73 minutes had passed already. guess that says more than a summary of likes/dislikes ;)
