Invalid CD Key?

I purchased Galactic Civilizations 2 ultimate edition from Steam. I tried starting the game and it prompted me to make a stardock account and input my CD key, which I did. Then it said my CD key was invalid and wouldn't let me play the game. Is there a way to fx this?
