ModernMix Windows 8 app news round-up

To say the response to ModernMix has been overwhelming would be an understatement.  In the 20 years that Stardock has existed, we’ve never put something out that has has been this positively received, this fast.

To recap: Last week we put out the first beta of ModernMix, a program that lets users run Windows 8 ModernUI (Metro) apps in a window, on the desktop.  It’s a free download that you can also buy for $5 (which gets you the full beta and final version).

The reaction has been universally positive. But also, people (including myself) have found that ModernMix may be the single best thing to happen to ModernUI apps. It makes them relevant because many of them are really good – but not something you’d want to dominate a 22 inch monitor.

Can anyone seriously say that these ModernUI apps would be better run full-screen on a large monitor?

Brad, there's a reason my subscriptions are paid up through 2016.

Stardock is, and always has been , the best thing ever to happen to a Windows OS.

Thanks Stardock!!

My dad has been building a new computer and is using the Windows 8 OS, and I am proud to say that I told him about Start8 and ModernMix. He is already using Start8 and will probably get ModernMix soon.

And I have a friend who just the other day was like "I like Windows 8, but it's too much like a tablet. I wish there was a Start button". And lo and behold, there is Stardock.

I'll second that. It's almost enough to get me to try Windows 8.....almost. ;)

I love the fact that all those guys that hated bashed on the modern apps also windows8 now have nothing more to cry about.
If i think about it that i payd less than 50 bucks for windows8 and i calculate my subscription for Objecktdesktop in, then im far below the costs of windows7 with the same or (better) functionallity + i have an inbuild awesomeness pack thanks to stardock software ( windowblinds will fullfill the pack ).
Great great work and big congratulations about the massive positive feedback - now hurry and throw windowblinds at me hehe  :congrat:

I hedged my bets and bought 2 Win8 licenses before the price increase, banking on SD to make it functional again.  Turns out it was a good plan.  I'll probably go ahead and install it on my remaining XP rig when I have a long weekend to do so.  No telling when that will be, but...

Congrats Stardock!!  Good work doesn't go unnoticed for long. :D

I don't have Win 8 still using Win 7 here.  It's good to know when I make my next system change there will be excellent products here for me.
