Running Metro apps in a Window and getting the Start menu back in Windows 8

If you're running Windows 8, even if you absolutely love the new Start screen and ModernUI apps I think you'll still want to check out Start8/ModernMix.

Start8, as many of you know, has become very popular because it brings back the Start menu to the Windows 8 desktop and lets you book directly to it. 

Now, ModernMix solves the other biggest criticism with Windows 8, namely that the new WinRT apps (called ModernUI apps or Metro apps) are forced to run full-screen.  ModernMix lets you run them in a window, on the desktop, side-by-side with your traditional Windows programs.

Some apps do fine full-screen but many apps seem ridiculous when run full screen.  Skype RT, Remote Desktop RT, the Windows store, etc. all seem forced when running full-screen.

When you put Start8/ModernMix together you get all the benefits of Microsoft's new OS without any compromises. There's no downside.

Great video Brad. It really does show first hand by example just how much more user friendly Win8 can be with the ModernMix / Start8 software installed. I'm really impressed. Now if Win8 is able to get WindowBlinds here in the future, I might just make the upgrade. We'll see how things go for the time being. Thanks for the vid.   -- Ace --
