Is it meant that certain abilities and Death spells ignore magic immunity?

I've noticed that certain abilities ignore magic immunity. While this may be okay, is it meant that Death spells like Shadowbolt (and in the Urxen Witch mod, Eldritch damage spells) still work on creatures with magic immunity, including Ophidians and Obsidian Golems?
