Pro-player Behaviour

Today i was disgusted, Absolutely... disgusted.  v_v

First tell me all you skilled. is 60 cobalts with upgrades, a level 6 marza, and 7 kodiaks enough to kill a level 1 eradica fresh frm the factory?

Second, and this is where the disgust comes in. Is it acceptable and permissible in our gaming community to verbally attack and degrade people who have offered you no offense nor attack of their own?

to be short, I was beaten by level 1 eradica and level 3 progen with the above mentioned force. I didnt believe it was possible to lose so quickly without wail  (which was banned) so i called out the opponent. His team denied his use of wail. Curious, I asked him what happened. I told him and others about something i witnessed. A bug, i believe if not wail, may have been the cause. My ships were all in a ball and turning around, not targeting the eradica correctly it seemed. I looked else where for 5 seconds and when i looked again my cobalts had all died. There was no sb.

I was very suprised. I had been winning up until this point.

After this happened i was basically slandered by the most of the enemy team and several angry members of my own.

I understand emotions flare so i dont blame those not directly involved. The owner of the eradica, however, was intentionally harassing me and what hurt was that everyone was ok with it.  We all spend our time playing this game because we truly enjoy it. But when people start to accept and admire a certain brand of hateful trolling it destroys the community. Noone- not me and especially not the new players logging on here and now- wants to play with insults being flung at them. Help the soase community by not being a jerk.

I still dont know wtf killed my fleet.

Anyways, thank you for reading. Skilled crowd, please remember to set a good example to the newer players and shun trolling and cheaters. see you in the next 3 hour lobby.

I saw similar things too in some games. Ships act really weird if THEIR TARGET IS MOVING. Even in their direction they (your ships) start to reposition, many times even turning in the opposite direction so they won't even be able to shoot a single laser, while the prog+eradica combo is enough to withstand the poor firepower of the rare ships that are not stupid to turn their backs to a demon....

Some players act stupid, on your opponent's team maybe they thought you acted noob (beginner in this context, not your name :) ) to lose your whole fleet and you just wanted to make a reason for it (although it truly seems it was the fault of Sins' targetting stupidity or maybe banned wail..), and your allies I think were shocked that you lost your fleet and this way you weakened their chances of winning maybe?

The owner of the eradica, however, was intentionally harassing me and what hurt was that everyone was ok with it.

Maybe he did not realize not you are making your ships to turn like a retarded imitating escape? And he was so happy that he won so easily he couldn't stop harassing you? The other players' acceptance is surprising though... Good to know online some people are like this, so I won't be much surprised if it happens to me..

I have lost so many things to the god awful pathfinding in Sins....usually it is a cap or titan that will not phase jump properly, at which point you of course get asshat responses like "you are so stupid" or "why did you let your cap/titan die??"...

Normally the targeting problem described by the OP only is a problem for LRFs and occasionally for cap/titan abilities....I've had several unfortunate run ins because of these slow ships not doing anything for a key 20+ seconds...

This, however, seems to me to be more than just pathfinding, though obviously a replay would be the answer to the problem....

A lvl 1 Eradica with one use of chastic burst cannot instantly kill any of those ships as it is only 500 damage per use...even if that attack was coupled with malice, a lvl 3 prog would at most have lvl 2 malice (which affects only 15 ships) and so there is no way all of your ships could have been killed in one chastic burst...

2 chastic bursts combined with malice probably could destroy a good portion of the LFs, but not all of them (the rest would be very damaged) and that's only if all of them were tightly clustered...your HCs for sure should have had no problems surviving 2 chastic bursts....

What planet types were near to that gravity well?  What player were you facing?  These things may suggest wail was used...

In my opinion N00b your fleet was perfectly capable of taking on an unsupported lvl 1 eradica...the only thing you probably should have done is spread out your cobalts more so they couldn't all be hit by chastic burst at once...

Thanks for your responses.

Turchany, we all know the difference between being taunted in good fun and being taunted solely for the other person's singular trollish enjoyment. The latter is not productive to the online community, imo. Im sure, had you been there, you would have at least been annoyed by the childish behavior/ remarks and the one-sided nature in which they were given, if not offended.

Seleuceia, Ill check if I or the others have a replay first thing. The roid in question was neighbored by a desert with a temple of communion. As for spreading out my fleet, you're right, I probably should have. In my defense, I had 15 or so Kodiak cruisers jumping in from the next gravity well. At the time things looked pretty predictable.

Thank you both for your constructive posts,. They were well written and helpful.

Technically it wasn't unsupported and the story has changed somewhat. The 15 heavies were jumping in. Where there also repair bays, turrets?

An Eradica can take out 40'ish pirate ships with bombers present. Clumping all your LF's together and attacking an Eradica is not an ideal fleet in my opinion. Plus there are some creative ways to move large ships around that mucks with targetting (tip watch good vasari players with their starbase).

Without a replay it's impossible to say if wail was used or not. Though it seems possible time wise given you had a level 6 Marza. And since there's no after effect to surviving ships it's tough to say without a replay. I wish there was a lingering effect on the planet and ships that lasted for a decent duration (mystically disappearing ships has always been a bit odd).

On the main point: the taunting is fairly lame and I might have tried to take out the Eradica too with your fleet as the only way to learn is to try.

ZombieRush,

The progenitor was already severely damaged and had close to no antimatter. ( i had chased it with my fleet) I assure you, im not leaving any essential info out of this report. AS for my ship grouping..Guys, they were all in a ball, very close together and very close to the eradica.  I DID NOT clump them together intentionally with the clump your ships into a suicide ball button. -_- They were turning as if to target even though they had attacked head on and did close to no damage; The eradica's shields weren't even down after my attack.

there were no repair bays or turrets. Something weird happened or i was wailed.

The focus of this post is not to critique my fleet composition. I had been winning heavily until this point in the game. For example, i was number 1 eco without trade while my opponent did have trade. I was also number 1 fleet.

The purpose of this post is to keep the community aware of its behavior and how it reflects and affects us all.

Nuub,

You were the one that asked if 60 LF is enough to kill an Eradica. Don't ask questions in the main topic if you don't want people to answer them. And I find people generally embellish or leave out key points when describing their issues.

Great story, who doesnt like a good mystery! At first i was thinking some sort of z-axis targeting abuse but then i read about your fleet mysteriously dissapearing. Please find out what happened and let us know here! +1 Karma on offer.

If you are defending it is actually very easy to find out if you have been wailed.

All your ships just dissapeared?

Check your own structures on the planet.... while more than durable enough to withstand any Wail they will also be considerable damaged.... as enemys rarely fire on structures until your fleet is gone (Notice however that when they are close uninteded stay shots hit the structures, so check on a structure far away from the enemy) your structures should be undamaged.

If however all of your structures show unexplainable damage.... and you are attacked only by capital ships + Titan it certainly looks like Wail.

As Wail does damage own units, it is rarely used when your own fleet is present... most people would rather not pulverise their own frigates just to get yours.

z axis was abused for your information JinglyGook. like a cat, stop climbing on trees where you know you can't get back down from it. wail was used because he was facing an advent rebel player. who ever you played against you have to remember the name so he or she or cat or dog will get kicked from future game for breaking one of communities banned rules.

That this person would go against someone who's #1 in fleet with only a lvl 1 titan and low level prog tells me they were just there to milk the XP, not to fight legitimately....

If wail was fair game, then so be that....but if it was specifically a no wail game then I'd post the person's name...

Seleuceia, I have the replay but do not know how to upload

And by the way, I was playing loyalist that game :)

And NxxB, only 1 or 2 players were actually insulting you that game in the chat.

I have had no buggy/glitchy experiences for sins, but I can confirm it was not wail, as all the planets were in good condition before and after the battle.

Hmm please watch the replay and let us know! Very exciting stuff!

Upload the replay to something like mediafire or the like, and then post a link here....

Yes, but how do I upload the file?
Just drag the replay from the replay folder and press upload?

Sorry for all these nubbish questions, I have never uploaded anything in my life

MoonMugger,

i fought an eradica not a coronata. i know the difference.

Please post the replay. I welcome its critique. Gotta get better somehow!

I always forget to record my games...

And Sel, if i may call you Sel., Isnt exp gathering against such a large force noobishly dangerous? If the eradica really did kill all my ships without wail or a bug then im playing AR only from now on.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Sel is fine...most people call me that....

It's not noobish if you have wail at your disposable...without any hard evidence, that fact more than anything makes me inclined to believe the player used wail...they knew they would destroy your entire fleet, might as well get the XP right?

I never said that you fought a Coronata, I just said that I was playing loyalist

you lie.. this not true.. auto record is off for your replays, you don't know where there kept so you couldn't even mail it to me in an attachment.

on a scale of 1 to 10.. do you think you got wailed or got cheated with z-axis?

AUTO RECORD IS ON YOU ASSHAT. AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE REPLAYS ARE STORED, IN THE AUTORECORD-MULTIPLAYER FOLDER. I'm very sorry for the caps lock. I'm too lazy to edit it out

Not all players have autorecord on....I for instance do not because it gave me MDs at the end of every game...

Not that it mattered, since most games ended with an MD well before then....

You got wailed.

Wailing is not illegal in japan.

I can mail it to you in an attachment. I just need your email address, which would be rather stalkery...
