Start8 always shows recently opened documents - privacy issue

Hi,

 

I just purchased Start8 and I love it .... BUT there is a snake in paradise here .....

 

I severely dislike that any start menu shows recently opened documents - and Start8 does !
Even if I deselect "Show recently opened items" in the configuration menu I can enable this anytime and Start8 shows recently opened documents !

Now - I may not be able to figure out how to turn this off, but I am afraid it is an oversight ??!!

I hope someone can help me out here :)

Those are the OS jump lists.

You can control those from the OS taskbar properties menu.  Simply right click on the taskbar, select properties and then the Jump Lists tab.  From there you can limit the number of recent docs or enable or disable the storing of apps or docs.

It is worth noting that opening up any app would show the very same results from the taskbar button menu.

That's it ... boy, do I feel stupid now :blush:
I never looked there as there was no start button before .... :|

 

HOWEVER setting the following in Properties -> Jump Lists:
Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists: 0
'Checked' Store recently opened programs
'Checked' Store and display recently opened items in Jump Lists

This should allow for recently opened programs to retain their Task Lists but not show any recently opened files - with the '0' setting it always still shows the latest opened file !
