(1.20) Save game not loading, possibly corrupted

Hey guys,

Until now I was enjoying FE 1.20 really a lot and even played a game Stormworld mod. Yesterday I started a normal FE game again and everything was working fine until the morning. The game started well, but after 1 hour playing it suddenly crashed and I can't load any of my games anymore. My best load is the previous autosave, which actually succeeds to load into the map, but then also crashes. I have tried to search on the forum and I see a lot of common problems, but no solutions. Can anyone help me with some advice how I could fix this problem? I am running on windows 7, updated drivers and a PC strong enough to play games like battlefield 3 on high quality.

Ps. I have seen a patch 1.29 of Frogboy, but I have decided not to download it until I am sure it will fix my problem. That patch is in beta mode and I would rather fix this saved file corruption in an official way. I have totally no problems with bugs, but I really hate save game corruptions, because  I have lost a lot of time for nothing  -_-

All help is appreciated guys!   ;)

Nobody who can help me? No official reply? I mean, if corrupted save files is part of the current state of the game, then this is certainly not what I paid for as customer, lol. I mean, I have totally no problems with certain bugs and glitches, but when there is a significant chance that your game becomes corrupted, it means the game is not working well and that definitely is a problem. Can I please have some official reply on this matter, because I want to play this game, as I love the game mechanics, but if the game is broken, then it is a big problem for me. I am definitely not going to start new games with a chance of a corrupted file every time...  :\

What a negative attitude, waiting 8 hours and then offloading this...

Try this, it focuses on some corruped savegame issues introduced with the 1.2 patch (or well, present in the 1.2 patch anyhow).

"Quote: Can I please have some official reply on this matter"

If you want official reply, it helps being patient, understanding and friendly.

The game started well, but after 1 hour playing it suddenly crashed and I can't load any of my games anymore.

Next time, it helps providing the Debug.Err as stated in the "How to report an issue" - https://forums.elementalgame.com/415301

Also, include the savegames, and the crash-file item (only if your crash of course), this is a sharing tool that is easy to use: www.dropbox.com

Hope it helps ;)

Edit: This forum's quote feature is riddled with bugs -.-
Edit2: I can't really spell, but you probably guessed that.

Well sorry mate, but it can be very frustrating when a saved game becomes corrupt. In particular when I read the forums and like 60-70% of the posts are about corrupted files. Like I said, your link is Frogboy's forum with the 1.29 patch and I have read those comments. This is actually a quote of Frogboy himself:

"I don't mean any offense by this but if you're patience is already at an end, it's probably  not a good idea to be trying out builds that I'm making from my machine.  They're designed for people willing to try out stuff that hasn't even been looked at by anyone but me (and only on my own home PC)."

So, this means the official 1.20 patch is not working well and Frogboy tries to solve to problem with his own customization, which is not official. The people over there mention that even with Frogboy's patch 1.29 your corrupted file will still exist and probably I need to start a new game, but even with patch 1.29 it is not 100% sure that no corruption of your saved file will occur. However, like Frogboy said, it is not an official patch and I do not know what will change with my games when I apply patch 1.29(which is still beta) and afterwards the official 1.30 patch.

Tha fact is, that I am a patient guy, but if some of these comments I have read are right, then I can understand the frustration from some customers. For example, after several months, the game is still not stable as saved files become corrupted. When I ask about this on the forums, nobody knows the answer, but I need to download a beta patch, which is not really acceptable mate.

Its not about being impatient, but I saw a game with great potential, that I really like and now I have noticed that the game is unstable and many people had the risk of saved file corruption. Yes, I want to play the game, but in a normal state with no strange customizations etc. So basically there is no solution for saved files and the only thing I can do is download an unofficial patch which is not recommended by the developer himself?

I understand how frustrating it can be to see the game you really really like, you just needs "this" done...
(I feel like that for FE myself, I complain about some things not to be ungrateful, but because I like the current items and would love to see it develop and grow :)).

Sorry if I was rude though, I just meant to say "Relax, Stardock Employees are people too, and 8 hours is not a fair time to give other people to react to your post".
I do hope you get a reply, and therefore put forward some information that can help you provide high quality bug reports to Stardock so they have the best chance to fix the issue, if it is local (I don't have issues with corruption, although I am running the experimental build).

  Yes, I really like the in-depth gameplay and this game is great :star: . I just hope I will get some official reply, but they should have seen my post by now dont you think or is the team working part-time?

Ok, so apparently the 1.29 patch is causing no corruptions, mmm. The stormworld mod did also work fine for me. So maybe Im gonna try a new mod, as I have seen 2-3 great mods in the modding section. Maybe try patch 1.29 ;P

There is no way this is even close to being true.

So, this means the official 1.20 patch is not working well and Frogboy tries to solve to problem with his own customization, which is not official.

No, it doesn't mean that 1.20 isn't working well, most people are running just fine on 1.20. Anecdotally, I haven't had a crash in 1.20 at all, with way too many hours played, with mods installed.

I'd say the real fact is, very few people are having the problems you are having, that is why no one (no one meaning other users) is able to help you. And I am not saying you aren't having any problems, nor am I saying it isn't the game's fault. It probably is, there are just some PCs out there that struggle with the game. Weird combo of drivers, hardware, other software, who knows...

I also appreciate that you are frustrated, but following Kongdej's advice in comment 2 will really help move things along. And possibly starting a ticket with customer service via email will help even more. It's not often that you get quick service to software glitches via forum responses.

Well, much better attitude there.  :)

Stormworld is awesome!!

Just remember, if they are reading the forums they aren't actually working on the code to fix anything!

Yes, mate, but if you ignore customer problems, you will lose customers. If they are familiar with the problem and they are working on it, they should reply to it so I know about it. If I am sure that the problem will be fixed with patch 1.30, but in the mean time I can try 1.29 as it fixes a lot of things, you won't see me complain. BUT if I get ignored and I see a lot of other people with the same problem about saved file corruption after several months, then I am like,ok this game is not stable. I know the complications of hardware and software, but I have a strong PC and corrupted files is really really a game breaker. I don't care for bugs I see in the game, but when I spend 6 hours in a game that was really really fun and suddenly the file becomes corrupted, then I am like, ok...this I won't do again... Now I am clueless what to do...(1) Try patch 1,29, (2) wait for patch 1.30, (3) try a mod...

Btw, do you have any other recommendations for good mods like Stormworld. I like stormworld, but I would also like the play the original factions. For example I would like to play an assassin faction like Tarth and I do not know which one is familiar with Tarth in Stromworld.

Edit: Seems I'm going to try the immersion mod. Like the huge epic armies and if that does not go well, then try patch 1.29

There is a new 1.29 (now they have 2 patches with that number... great >_<)

https://forums.elementalgame.com/440201

This is ALSO a beta version of the patch and is to considered "probably bugged", but if it fixed the savegame corruption, I figure you can live with other kinds of silly bugs/glitches :)

May want to give Master's Affliction a whirl as well. Definitely good, but it is a bit more hardcore.

I have totally no problems with bugs or glitches mate as long as my game does not become corrupted;)

And I saw the Master's affliction mod, but I have noticed that the developer is AFK for 1-1,5 months already and I do not know if it is completely stable with 1.20. Still, I saw that the Immersion mod uses quite some elements from the master's affliction mod like the much stronger (neutral) monsters which I really like  . Love the Immersion mod until now and especially the long huge epic tactical battle it offers  .
