For the AI

I just bought the game and it's rather annoying the AI has so few units to use. I know that if I play a lot of games with all the factions it will gradually adopt my designs. I don't really wanna wait that long though so was thinking we should use this thread to upload our unit designs.

Maybe give a small description like the idea behind the unit, and what tactic should be used with it. Feel free to upload a picture of your creation as well!

If there is someone who has made designs available elsewhere please let me know; neither Google nor forum-search yielded any results.....

Your unit designs can be found in Documents/My Games/Fallen Enchantress/Units

unit designs

Since I've played Altari Beastmaster I've pretty much only been using Henchmen(and their designs are bad IMO) and beasts so far.

I've created 1 unit worth mentioning though:

 Altari

Frontline Cavalry-(Zipfile unpack in the above directory)

The idea here was to make a cheap early game unit for the front line which will scale a bit with levels(+1dodge per level). They are not supposed to deal damage but rather just occupy the enemy.

We need some more depth in unit designs I think.

It's pretty obvious what is best most of the time, and your biggest concern is crystal vs iron spending. Double fire/cold +3 and double rings +1 is always the best bet when designing units and you have the crystal.

I think some more depth regarding initiative, +hp pr lvl (get this away from gilden please) etc. and maybe some armor pr. lvl stuff would give more interesting unit designs.

I've found that as I've pushed myself more on difficultly level (and playing from difficult situations) the unit design seems more and more blanced (with the exception of mounts which always seem like a good idea).  Those iron and crystal requirements are really pretty restrictive when you're trying to field some decent units quickly to beat an AI that can significantly out expand you.

I find myself using a lot of non-max units now, though they almost always have mounts after I get them (which is quickly), and usually have three traits.  It's only rarely that I max out crystal gear, you just build that stuff up too slowly to blow on a few +attack.

It would be nice if there were spears/pikes that get a bonus against cavalry units. Right now going cav is like the best thing ever and there's no reason to do anything else because the mounts give so much extra stats. Initiative in general seems to be probably the strongest stat right now.

Did the Bloodthirsty trait change at all (in LH)? Seems weird to have a trait that gives a large bonus to attack just for attacking a damaged unit. All ya gotta do is hit em once and you get a crazy attack bonus. This trait is almost always the best + attack trait...

Maybe it should be changed to only kick in when the enemy is at 50% health or something... Unless that is what it does and I'm just dumb  :)
