Malware disguised as Java Update.

You know the drill… Oracle doesn’t email anyone about Java updates, nor are “Reminders/Ads” about such an update on any webpage. If you see one, it is NOT from Oracle.

So… don’t download Java updates from anywhere but the Oracle website, and don’t use it unless you have vital software which needs it to work correctly.

If you wish to see which of your programs are using it (look which are using say Jar2), download Process Explorer (Mark Russinovich) here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653

It should give you the info with more detail than Task Manager.

Situations one should be wary of: Disasters of any type, holidays and software warnings. Basically, one should beware of 'crowds' of any type. "Pickpockets" love "targets of opportunity".

So...that should say "a newer version 'off' Java is required"? :-" Where's Jafo when you need him?
