Start8 1.1 Now Available

from Stardock Forums

Start8 1.1 was released today with many improvements and features such as multi-monitor support for the Start button, custom places support, additional languages, and more.  Start8 is the “best solution” for the missing Start Menu on Windows8 by USA Today, Forbes, CBS News and Lifehacker!

Full changelog for v1.1 can be found here, but here are the highlights:

  • Added drag & drop including rearranging items in the all programs tree.
  • Added rename support in the tree
  • Added feature : Folders pinned to the startmenu allow you to view the first X items as a jumplist
  • Added opening Winkey+X menu option instead of start menu
  • Added feature : Custom places locations. Add a Dropbox location for example.
  • Additional language support

Hi,

 

On the screenshot above it appears it shows a "Modern UI applications" folder with the Win 8 "apps"

 

How do you have this available as its not on my start menu?

This should be there on all installs unless you have disabled it from Start8 Configuration.

The setting is on the Desktop page under "How should the new Windows 8 features work"

You can access the configuration window by right clicking on the start button and picking configure Start8 from the menu.

Hey guys I installed the new v1.1 and everything works great except in the start menu the run text is cut in half.  Probably a coding issue.  See if you guys can replicate what I've seeing.  Here's whats in my start menu--->users, documents, pictures, music, videos, downloads, computer, control panel, device and printers, and run.  The rest look great except the run option is broken.  I like things to look clean.  See image below.

I attempted to download via the the Start8 configuration screen, via the "Check for update..." link on the "About" tab.  Clicking it produces a dialog saying "No updates for Start8 have been found".  Bug?

Mine said the same thing   check for updates  "No updates for Start8 have been found"

I had the 1.1 beta installed and it said no updates found, perhaps you do too?

It seems someone didn't press the right buttons so the servers are still saying 1.03 is the latest.  This will be fixed later today.
