Fallen Enchantress is still unstable

so after taking a break from this game for a couple weeks, i came back to find a few new patches. I'm planning to get my cousin into this game soon, as we both used to play FFH together for hundreds of hours, and loved that.

Unfortunately, the state of the game still feels unfinished and lacklustre.  I still get frequent crashes on loading saves or ending turns.

I talked to my cousin about this game the other day. The first thing he pointed out was the tiny number of factions, the bland sameyness of all the leaders, the lack of alternate leaders, and the lack of religions and civics. I have to agree it's lacking in a lot of ways to really develop your civilisation much. For now we're giving it a miss but hoping to come back and play again in a few months, perhaps after a few more patches. We're both huge fans of kael's and stardock's work (galciv 2 is our second most played game of all time)

I thought the same until I restarted a vanilla game, which was very stable. Then I did another (large map) game with only safe modifications and now I have finished my first large game on turn 232.

So for me, FE is stable. I got two crashes only but reloading the game and then the autosave fixed that promptly.

If you want them to fix those crashes you really should post your crash reports, other wise there is nothing they can do. My computer runs the game fine so the problem is probably isolated to specific setups.

Been playing a lot of 1.12 and the only crash I've seen is caused by the memory leak related to saving and loading or using Ctrl-N. The game doesn't clear properly when you load a save or create a new map from within a game, and if you do it enough times the game will bog down and eventually crash. If you are reloading a lot, just remember to quit and restart the game every once in a while, how often probably depends on your machine.

The bugs and missing features though, ya they are starting to get overwhelming and I'm having a hard time starting the game up again. Seems everything I've been trying to do the past few days has led me straight to something that is bugged or not implemented.

The game is pretty much unplayable for me. I get all sorts of freezes, on savegame load, sometimes at the end of my turn and after a while i can't even launch the game, because it freezes on the title screen...

This.^

The only times I've suffered crashes or graphics glitches was after either using Ctrl-N or reloading/restarting a game.

FWIW, my system is pretty basic:

AMD Athlon II X2 255, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 9200, Win 7 64 bit.

Well hooray for you guys, but the fact is, this game is still very, very buggy. No amount of your praise will fix it for me. So i hope Stardock is still working on fixing those freezes/crashes which apparently were supposed to be fixed in the last patch.

The devs can only fix what they know. So it is imperative, that you post your crash reports. Here is a guideline on how to do it.

For me the game has been totally stable. There are still a few oddities like monsters not staying tied to their lairs in wildlands. But I haven't had a game crash since I started playing again recently. If you're having crashes and want them fixed you need to report them.

That's intended. Most of them don't even spawn from the lairs, they can spawn anywhere in the wildland at random.

Usually sporadic crashes and seemingly random issues that happen on some machines but not others are symptoms of underlying multi-threading problems. This seems to gel with the rest of the bug reports and fixes that we've been seeing so far, including those for the apparently multi-threaded AI.

And multi-threading bugs are usually quite difficult to trace down and fix properly...
