Cannot login in on the Sins of a Solar Empire forums! Help!!!

Yes I know this sounds weird and I seem to be the only one with this problem, but anytime I try to login to the Sins forums, the page just reloads as if the form didn't even get sent properly. In fact I've tried it so many times I'm sure my account would be locked by now if it was submitting any data. Also tried resetting my password but again to no avail. But clearly that's not the problem as I could sign in on wincustomize just fine.

The trouble started when firefox basically told me something about "The server is doing something in a way that will never be completed" and refuse to load the Sins forum at all. So I deleted all my cookies, and while that let me view the forums, trying to login still does nothing. :(

How did you delete your cookies? Was it in Firefox or the link at the bottom of the page? If those didn't work try CCleaner as it does sound like a cookie problem.

Yes, I deleted all cookies via the option in firefox.

Wait, so you're saying this is a registry problem? Even though cookies on every other site, including Wincustomize, works just fine?

Well allrighty then!!! Try CCleaner as has been suggested already. Case closed.

Damn, I wish all people and all problems required this little effort. ;)

What do you mean, I still have the problem. If it's only 1 person it doesn't make it an issue? ;)

Not at all. It just makes it all your own.

I just don't see where Fuzzy mentioned the registry being an issue??? I'm not an IT person so, what do I know...

Firefox doesn't clear all your cookies ;) Try CCleaner :)

Log out of all sites, close your browser, run CCleaner to remove all cookies, empty temporary internet files etc, then open your browser and log in.

No, it's nothing to do with the registry ;)

Probably, but it only affects a Stardock site, who knows, that's why I posted. ;)

I thought CCleaner was a registry utility. :S

Well I tried CCleaner but it didn't fix the issue. Is there some specific option I should use or does anyone else have any other ideas?

Your browser maybe damaged, try uninstalling/re installing or use a different one like chrome...

God dang it, I tried it in IE and it works.  X|

I guess I'll try reinstalling fire fox or if all else fails get chrome.

goafan, you might also want to check out comodo's icedragon (their take on firefox claiming to be more secure)

Yeah, I'm tried chrome for the first time right now and it does run a lot faster. Of course I used a lot of plugins like firebug on firefox so I'm sure that didn't help the speed. Thanks for the suggestions, guess I may as well use this as an excuse to decide on a new favorite browser, at least until support gets back.

FYI I tried manually deleting some of the cookie files per instructions on firefox's support articles, but that still didn't help.

FWIW; After running CCleaner the Sins forum sometimes doesn't repaint correctly in FireFox (for me), so I also clear FireFox's browser cache. I've never had a problem with the site failing to authenticate though.

Well I didn't have that problem, and I cleared what seemed to be absolutely everything. Either there is some freak error with the Sins site (as that was the only thing I had problems with) or there's a corrupt file in firefox somewhere that never lets the site realize I'm logged in.

It must be an error with Firefox. I use Firefox as well, admittedly it's a Nightly build, but I've had no problems with the Sins forums. In fact, I'm in this thread right now on Nightly.

If it makes you feel better Goafan77 I had that issue for a time as well. I just relogged though and it cleared up for me. Oh and as for CCleaner, I had just used that.
