More Wargs, Less Horses?

Is there a way to get more wargs on the map and fewer horse tiles?

I've had just one game with wargs. I see horse tiles all over the place every game. I tried modding the CoreWorldResources (making a separate copy and putting it in the Units folder - trick I remembered from WoM), however, when I do this, it screws with the whole map. Resources are gone (except for shards for some reason) and the settle spots have fewer resources on them.

What did I do wrong? I tried changing the rarity (making it match horses to try to get 50/50 type split) but...why did it make ALL the resources disappear except for shards?

If doing that creates issues, simply create a new warg resource. It will keep the same improvements to be built on it and all, just give the world resource a new internalname attribute, and change the rarity as you see fit.

I believe this is related to the item reward rarity spawning that Heavenfall mentioned elsewhere, it basically means that the rarity is read in and calculated too early in the process (before the mod folders are read). So you either have to do what Heavenfall suggests (create a duplicate to supplement the existing one), or mod it in the core files.

Thanks guys, going to give that a shot :)

Might even get me motivated to dabble with creating new tiles and xml for them :)

Odd, for me, wrag is more common than horse in 1.o2 to 1.12...

I had to put it in the actual data folder for it to work.

I made a file that just had my "new wargs" in it, and the map was still messed up. When I put it straight into the data/English folder, suddenly, it worked.

I guess there's just no way around it. Is this a known/intended design? Just asking because the game is mod friendly. Just seems out of character for this to work like it is.

@Humility - wow really? Man, I guess the wargs don't like me :(

Seems normal to me. Though my attempt at making a custom item ended in despair.

And I have seen plenty of wargs too. Good for selling to scummy empires for all their iron.

Hmm...maybe it is. Just thought with that the Mods folder, it would work from there, too, so we don't have to clutter the main core file directory. Guess that's not what it's for?

Heh wargs for iron. Nice :) Does that mean you're running a warg puppy mill?

While I don't condone milling puppies. Transporting them in powdered form is much easier. Do what you gotta do.
