Feature Request - Shutdown/Restart and Update

Windows Vista/7 had the Shutdown button in the start menu change to the Shutdown and Update button when Windows updates were downloaded and ready to install. Start8 isn't currently doing that and you have to go to Charms->Settings->Power to get the option to appear. It would be really nice if we could get this option in Start8 also.

Yes, so far, that is the only thing I really miss in Start8.

Currently you can right-click the start icon and select shutdown to bring up a login/power menu.

SirBedwyr is correct.

But the real issue I face is with users who need to be notified of an available Update at the time they are Shutting Down their machine.  If they use the normal Start button-Shutdown approach they are used to, they don't see the Update notice that Win7 always gave them.

The end result is "not pretty".  Right in the middle of doing something, their machine shuts down to do an update as their 3 days expires (a new Win 8 "feature").

In my view, this is a fairly "big deal".

I agree with the previous comments. In my opinion, moreover, it should be present an option to do a "full shutdown" instead of the the hybrid shutdown of Windows 8.

Currently it is possible pressing shift while clicking on "shut down" on Start8, but in my opinion it is a bit user-unfriendly.

So in my opinion the two problems might be solved togheter in this way:

1) adding the option "full shutdown" among the shutdown options in Start8

2) automatically showing the option "full shutdown and install updates", like it happened in Windows 7.

Or, if it is not possible on Windows 8, at least automatically show the option "update and reboot" which is the default option for install updates in Windows 8.
